1 year later

You paced your room; biting your lower lip and every so often passing by your bathroom mirror in order to peer at your reflection. Your room was a bit of a mess, and with a sigh you decided to make a mental note to pick it up at some point as you stepped over your strewn graduation gown that was still laying on the ground in a tussled heap.

You had graduated, and your life as a high schooler was officially over. To your surprise it was Sam who had cried the most, and although emotional yourself you and Emily had comforted him during the ceremony and after all the speeches had been given.

Your senior year had been... fine. In comparison to the rollercoaster that was your junior year, it was more like a steady and slow train that had made it's way down the tracks at an unwavering speed. You did your schoolwork, ate lunch with Sam and Emily, participated in creating  the school newspaper, and did your homework at night.

Sometimes you would watch K-Dramas during the school nights or continue your pursuit in poetry as you put more time into hobbies, even if they were hobbies one would usually preform alone.

Yes, life was peaceful and simple. You had become the third wheel of course but you didn't quite mind. You had grown fond of Emily and Sam's relationship and they always included you in everything; you not feeling uncomfortable at all and honestly wishing the two of them the best. They were great friends in that sense and even when you all went off to separate colleges, you hoped to stay in touch and meet up during holidays. Even if that never happened and you all drifted apart, Sam and Emily would forever be in your memories and heart.

You had made a few other friends just by being active in the school's journalism club, and you had to admit you liked the feeling of inclusivity. There were even days you didn't mind the feeling of May watching you. In the back of your mind you knew she couldn't do anything and wouldn't even if it were possible.

A part of you felt bad and seriously confused as to what had happened to her that had made her so angry at you or anything that seemed out of her reach. You didn't want to pry, but you had to assume it had to do something with her mom and the rumors of her messy family life. You kept to yourself and never asked when others gossiped about it.

What's done was done, and the two of you hadn't interacted since the mishap at prom until graduation. You made eye contact then, and although the familiar hateful glare resonated in her gaze, she nodded your way before turning to look at the ground. You hoped being away from the toxicity of a high school environment would be good for her.

Throughout your senior year, you were never able to place it, but you always had a feeling that someone was watching you. You didn't know if this was a bad thing per say, and although it was hard to place into words, you never felt negativity or fear towards the unknown presence. It was almost as if you had a guardian angel, and that this was the cause for you having such a smooth year. The reason no one gossiped or ever approached you with harmful intent of any sort. It was a ridiculous notion and one you never brought up to Emily and Sam, but the night you threw your cap in the air you also made sure to give whoever this presence was a sincere thanks. You wished the best for them as well, whoever or whatever they might be.

So, although all that is great and good, what had become of Jeon Jungkook and his absence?

At first, you kept your blinds closed. You didn't want to look out the window to see Jungkook's empty bedroom everyday or the tree between the windows. You didn't want to accidentally look, and hope, even for a split second, that he was there.

Every morning you continued to wake up 10 minutes early. In the past, you had used these 10 minutes to make sure Jungkook was awake so you could walk to school together. Now you just laid in bed; listening to your phone vibrate as you used the time to plan out the day.
