58: Scourge

Sen Jia and Sen Shuai stayed with the same unit traveling from place to place. They were busy confirming intel reports and gathering evidence for the Song clan.

Once camp had been set for the night, the captain waved the soldiers off to do as they please for the short time of remaining light. Song Min and Master Qin entered his sight as they passed by.

The unit captain had become fond of the hardworking pair. He was especially impressed with the Song clan's young prodigy who was so well suited to warfare.

"Song Min, you've acclimated to this very fast. Actually, to everything. Have you always been so adaptable?" The captain didn't hold back on praising those he had acknowledged.

"Mm." Song Min only nodded once and made a light sound in response. After a moment he added, "It's familiar."

The pair continued on their way. Nil, who had been quiet for days, chose now to chime in.

|You've always been a good soldier. Selecting warriors each and every life. Isn't it boring? Why not try for a different life next time?|

|Are you afraid to try anything else? Worried your little lover will see you as a failure?| Nil goaded.

Sen Shuai ignored the obvious attempt to annoy him. -Just.... how many lives?-

Sen Shuai's expression turned thoughtful. - I've been a soldier to remember.-

Nil scoffed. |For all the good it did you.|

Sen Shua intuitively felt this answer was correct.

"Next life, I won't be a soldier." He stated out loud.

Sen Jia blinked twice, wondering where this statement came from. He was happy to go along with it though.

"Ok. Let's be something fun and relaxing. Something like rich second-gen playboys. We'll travel the world. Oooh or space! We could be space pirates." His eyes twinkled. " We will be the scourge of any world we visit."

Sen Shuai chuckled as he pulled Sen Jia into his arms, his heart filled with sweetness. "Anything you want. But why be a scourge?"

Little Shuai's laugh momentarily stunned sen Jia. He returned to his senses quickly though. "Being villains is more free and fun."

[Administrator. I've contacted the original master Qin's soul.]

[It's at the hub world. He's happy to return to this life.]

{Any special requests?}

[He asks to retain his memory and become a system host after this life ends.]

{That's doable. Begin the application procedure for him.}

[I already took the liberty while I was there. It's already been approved.]
