"So that is your wife, Mister Yagami?", L inquired.

"Correct."

"It must be nice to be married and have children, too."

Soichiro turned to L with a frown on his face.
"Ryuzaki, do you have a family? Or someone?"

"I did. In actuality, there was someone I was engaged to."

"What happened?"

"It did not end well.
Oh see, your son is home from school..."

~8 months later~

~Reader's POV~

Although I had been working as hard as possible during the past year, I really had not expected the Kira Task Force to consult me.

However, it meant that I had reached my goal.

Apparently, I had reached the sphere L was moving in - therefore the task force needed my help.

If only it wasn't L who was commanding them.

Anyone else would have been bearable, but not him... after we had fallen apart a while ago...

"Oh, welcome! You must be ~! Very nice to make your acquaintance!", one of the members said as I entered the main hall of the gigantic building. "I'm Shiuchi Aizawa!"

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Mister Aizawa!"

I looked past him now, noticing several men staring at computer screens attentively. In the middle of them, I saw him.
But one of the men suddenly noticed me and turned around. He seemed to be very young still, energetically approaching me with excitement.

"Welcome to the task force! I'm Touta Matsuda! It's so nice to see a new face here!", the young man cheered.

"Thank you, I look forward to working with you! Hopefully I can be of some help!", I smiled.

"You will definitely be of more help than me! Now, we better get back to work before L scolds us, hahaha!", the young man laughed half jokingly, half scared.

I breathed in slowly and approached the room's side that was covered by computers to face him.
As I did, the other men introduced themselves and greeted me, just L did not show any interest. He didn't even turn around.

That was until he heard my voice.

"Thank you, gentlemen!"

L turned around on his chair slowly with a look of strong disbelief and anger on his face.

"YOU."

If looks could kill, L would have brutally murdered me. There was a dark aura surrounding him, and his dark hair cast such shadows upon his face that, if I had not known better, I would've been frightened.

"Everyone, continue with the investigation", he hissed before standing up and stepping towards me, lowering his voice.

"What are you doing here?"

"You know very well", I hissed. "I'm here to solve your case."

"Do you even have any idea of how I've felt during the last months?"
