How To Shut Her Up?

"I assume you have an idea on who started all this, don't you?"

Casimir, who was watching Adira fall into her own thoughts again, asked.

The latter looked up to him but didn't really say anything. She knew that Casimir would believe her and she never doubted that. What she was concerned about was, how does she prove it?

"I do but I don't know how to prove it. I'm sure that by now that person would have destroyed the evidence. I would do that if it were me." She answered him and casually leaned back on the couch's back rest, feeling drained from all the thinking and scheming and emotional turmoil she was experiencing.

"I need to go see Heise. I'm going away for awhile." She suddenly spoke and bolted up.

Casimir, although confused with the sudden fluctuations in her mood, followed after her and they returned to her temporary room where the growing dragon was lazing about.

The moment he heard the clacking of heels approaching and smelled his mother's strawberry scent, he perked up and was already lying in wait in front of the door so that it was him his mother sees first as soon as she opens the door.

And indeed he was.

Adira doved to have Heise in her arms and snuggled against him. Even back from her past life, whenever she got tired, stressed or confused, she always ran to Heise and rode him to the skies to escape the place for a short while.

"Heise, take me away." She whispered and her son didn't even hesitate before bolting out the balcony and flying out of the room with Adira still clinging as tightly as she could.

Casimir and Lyfa were taken off guard and the former couldn't stop Heise in time as the dragon took Adira with him and flew high up to the sky.

Yet, it doesn't mean he was going to allow even his own son nab his wife and so he dashed out of the room and grabbed whichever horse and followed the dragon barely visible in the sky.

Adira missed the exhilarating feeling of being up in the skies where the wind blows freely and nothing was chaining her down.

She let go of Heise's neck before doing that stunt she used to love that scares the dragon out of his wits and let herself fall back.

Heise was large enough to carry her already so she knew it was going to be fine. More than anyone, aside from her family, it was Casimir and Heise who held her complete and unadulterated trust.

Although escaping like this might warrant a punishment from the man after, it was great to be out in the skies again.

Heise dove in a heap of panic when his mother fell out from his back. He felt as if a few years was shaved off from his lifespan because of his mother's antics.

And roared in a nagging way, when he heard the lively laughter from her.

My mother is too mischievous!

"Heise, you've still got heat resistance right?" Adira asked while hugging Heise's neck to shut him up from his roaring or also nagging.

The dragon only craned his head slightly to gaze at her ashen orbs with his bright sapphire eyes and Adira already could tell his answer.

"Then, I'm letting go for a bit, okay? I don't know how long I can keep it in check. I haven't used it since I started school. I should be allowed to let go as much as I want today, right?"

Or else, she might just char herself.

Adira, without waiting for Heise, sat up straight on his back. It was a lot harder to do so since she was wearing a dress—and dresses flap a lot against the wind.

Back when she does this exercise from her past life, she always used more comfortable and less obstructing clothes.

After finally finding her balance, she released an incinerating heat from within her as she burned so brightly—just like the brilliance of the legendary phoenix.

The townspeople below, abruptly felt the sudden outburst of heat and were sweating profusely. Some were complaining how fickle the weather has gotten and some were passing it off as the summer demon.

"But today's heat really feels almost searing. I'm already wearing a long-sleeved shirt but I can still feel the heat seeping through them and burning me."

"Yeah! I'm afraid I might keel over from this heat even!"

"Ah! Water! So thirsty! So hot! Ahhhh!"

"Boy, this heat really drives people crazy, huh?"

Various effects were evoked from the people and even the lake and all forms of body of water were visibly evaporating too fast. Some of the vegetation were wilting while some had burnt marks.

"Isn't this heat too abnormal?"

"Yeah. This might probably be the hottest day in all the summer season."

...

While Adira who was letting loose up above them finally felt more relaxed and more clear-headed before snaking her arms around Heise's neck—feeling the burning hotness his scales retained—and asked him to land somewhere inconspicuous. Like the forest just a little bit away from the castle.

"Thank you, baby. Now I know what to do next." She said and placed a quick kiss on Heise's forehead which earned her a happy and soft howl from him.

They were spending mother and son quality time when the neighing of the horse and heavy pounding of hooves came closer to their spot.

Adira was alert and was quickly on defense mode—even if the sound told her it was only one person. One finger on her son and she'll burn this person to a crisp.

When the horse and rider finally came into view, she saw a very, very mad Casimir. The same expression he wore when he flared at Triton back at the camping site.

"Umm.."

"What do you think you were doing?" He sounded calm but he didn't look calm. She could even almost hear the rumbling of the brewing blizzard threatening to swallow her whole.

"I couldn't think well. I needed to escape for awhile. I'm sorry. But please don't blame Heise. I ordered him so please, don't punish or take Heise away from me."

"Do you not trust me?"

"I do! I trust you with every bit of my soul! But you went and danced with that Iris! I admit I forgive you but I'm still mad! I'm burning with jealousy, okay?! Happy now?! If I didn't go I might've hurt people! I might've hurt you! And I—"

She wasn't able to finish before Casimir shut her up. Literally. You can probably tell how, right?
