''with each word he spoke, he had left the trees standing in awe; indescribable, the flowers marveled at his every step, and as he looked into my eyes, i felt it; he knew every single part of me, and as he left—disappearing swift and quickly faster than the blink of an eye—he had left me lost and wholly speechless.'yesul tapped her lips with the end of her pen.
she stared at the poem, and found herself staring at nonsensical piece. it confused her.
ideas had flashed left and right and tipped each other over on her poetry and it had now felt forced and unnatural.
yesul sighed. "i can't be like this." she rubbed her eyes, shaking her head and tearing the page out from her journal, "if i can't write this piece, i'm gonna let them down. i can't let that happen." she muttered.
"how do i do this?" she closed her eyes tightly and firmly gripped her pencil—she groaned. "no, i know-, i know what wonder is. why can't i write about it?"
she sighed.
"is this another thing i don't know now?" she let her head fall face first unto her desk.
then she heard a couple faint taps on her bedroom window. she lifted her head, squinting, then put it back down. 'it's just the tree branches hitting the glass,' she thought.
"yesul, let me in already!"
that voice,
too familiar to miss.
she lifted her head and a small smile crept onto her lips.
"come in, taehyung!" she shook her head playfully, resting her chin on her palm.
taehyung swung into yesul's room legs first, so swiftly that upon landing, he didn't make one sound. "whatcha doin'?" he sat on her bed.
"making my first piece for the poetry club," she grinned endearingly.
"you already have an assignment?" taehyung frowned, "how are we supposed to hang out?"
"sorry, tae, i have to finish this."
"don't tell me you're gonna ditch me again for your poetry club," he crossed his arms, eyebrows furrowing.
she looked at him apologetically. "sorry," she mouthed.
taehyung pouted, facing away from the girl. "where did my best friend go?" he muttered loudly enough for her to hear.
a big frown formed on yesul's lips. she didn't think that was how he felt. maybe she had been too focused on everything else.
then she slammed her notebook on her desk loudly and stood up from her chair. "no. we are going to explore today."
taehyung looked up and jumped in excitement, "really? are you sure? no, maybe you're just saying that."
yesul crossed her own arms and disagreed, "come on. we're not missing sunset."
the boy hopped and instantly complied. "okay."
taehyung keenly walked over to the window, getting out of the way and extending his arm to let yesul walk by first. "go ahead." he spoke politely as though he was one fine gentleman.
yesul giggled and hid her notepad and pencil in one of pockets. she put her legs through the window and sat, gazing at the height of her house from her bedroom. then she closed her eyes, having done this all too often and knowing that if she looked too long, she'd be overtaken by fear.
and with the quick force of flinging herself down the window, she felt the impact penetrate her ankles—almost slipping—but now the soles of her feet were treading the moist grass in their windy backyard.
