"Nova, look at me" Medusa pleads
"I can't" I sob
My swollen face has lost all it's charm an my body has given up.
"You are destined for great things. If you just believe" Medusa speaks softly.
"I am destined for loss and pain" I say while being defeated. I lost my family, my home, my love and now I am losing you" I break down as my transparent tears touch Medusa's skin
"You still have France" Medusa smiles as I look upto her
"France needs it's Queen. France needs you" Medusa says

"I give up. I cannot go on." I cry
"You are just decisions away from a completely different life" Medusa tightens her grip around my hands
"I have seen great things for you Nova. Trust me, I am your mother" Medusa says, "Everyday when you are dug into the ground, you have to make some decisions. Everyday"
"What kind of decisions am I ought to make when I have nothing" I reply
"You have yourself, and that would be enough" Medusa says as I sigh
"You are more than a broken heart Nova. You are more than an orphan" Medusa gets up a little while the doctor protests but she ignores and does as she likes
"Do you really believe so?" I question
"I know so" Medusa smile as she bleeds
"You will defeat the undefeated and be loved by the unloved" Medusa says, "France needs you"
Right now, at this moment all my heart can think of is betrayals and pain. It feels as if this darkness will never end and no matter how much I try to believe Medusa, I just cannot.
"I know you don't believe me" Medusa says and it catches me offguard
"But just wait and see how the Queen of France rises from the Ashes" Medusa gasps for air
"Medusa you need rest" I hurry to lay her down as room goes quite, everyone knows that it's her end
"The folklore with echo with your name, the brokeness will be healed" Medusa chokes but speaks as she falls back to the bed
"Medusa please, you are bleeding. Don't go" I howl
"Long Live Queen Nova" Medusa says

The room chants
"I love you.. I love" Medusa says till her voice stops and her mouth falls open
"I love you too mother" I put my head on her chest as I weep
I come back to this tree by the lake every time and all I can think of is Ivar. The way we sat under this tree when we both had feelings for each other or that time when we both jumped in the lake while releasing all our inhibitions. That feeling is the feeling my heart aches for, again and again
I look closely to the water, knowing that it had touched Ivar's skin. I rub my belly as I know that my baby is watching my pain
The water calls me
I remove my footwear and walk barefoot towards the calming water

The sunset glows onto the water as my feet touches it calmly.
I have nothing left to lose
It's me and my baby, alone in this world
The water becomes cooler and deeper as I keep walking into it, it gives me a weird sense of high as it takes me in
It touches my waist as it calls me
I float in it, and it feels magical. This hallucination is deafening as I hear Ivar call out my name
I hear my laughs when I was evidently happy
The cool lake breeze flows into my hair making me remember how he used to smell my hair
The water reaches to my breasts
It feels as if Ivar is holding me, with he hard hands and I just want to drown in his love
The water reaches my neck as I close my eyes, waiting for it to take me in
The perfect silence is the perfect backdrop for my death. Nobody would know, nobody would find me
I feel the water pulling me towards it till it reaches my chin
I know if I go, I'll die happy. Knowing that I have loved and gave my all.
I gave my all? I lived?
My eyes open up
As the water touches my nostrils
No, no, no. I haven't lived at all.
I take a deep breath as I move my legs but I am way to deep in the water
What are you doing Nova. You haven't lived at all. What about France? What about the world What about the places that you have never seen or people you have never met. You are too young to give up. Don't give up. FIGHT
The voice inside of me finally wakes up and I start flapping the water with my hands as I swim to the shore
I cough and cough till I spit out the water
And I fall to the ground while looking at the setting sun
