'We were always upto something crazy. And this time was no different. Bill medley of the righteous brothers was doing a solo act at the lounge of the Hilton.
We all knew and liked bill, and Elvis had known him for a long time. On this night we were returning to the suite by our usual back-hall route and werepassing the stage door of the lounge where bill was singing.
Elvis opened the door and we all followed him through, straight across the stage! The audience became unglued when they saw Elvis Presley walk across the stage and bill dropped the microphone.
He later told us that when he saw these figures coming at him from the dark of the wings he thought kooks had decided to wipe him out. When he saw who it was, he was so taken aback he just froze.
The next night when we were going by the same stage door, Elvis and I looked at each other with the same silly grins on our faces. I opened the door and across the stage we went again, but this time Elvis hesitated long enough to tweak bill on the cheek as we past.
The audience just fell apart and bill began to laugh so hard it must have been ten minutes before he could continue singing.'
