Jennie held the bouquet of flowers behind her back, knocking on the apartment door with a few swings of her free hand.

She took a breath in the pause while someone shuffled on the other side of the door to open in it.

This apartment was interesting for her.

It was first and foremost, her shared home with Jisoo.

But it held many important memories for her, mostly of their first year of college together, now coming to a close.

She remembered how thrilled Jisoo was, when she first opened the door to find Jennie waiting for her, on the other side.

Jennie smiled simply in memory of Jisoo's grin, and swore to herself that whatever it took, she was going to make Jisoo feel like that every day for the rest of their lives.

She found that this year had mostly been comprised of self-discovery, and soul searching. While that was all well and good, one thing remained an ever constant presence in her life: Jisoo.

Jisoo Kim, her girlfriend, her chosen life partner, her best friend.

They were going to stand the test of time, of stress, of peer pressures, of work, money, and all the little obstacles that ate away at other relationships.

This year had only made Jennie more certain, and with recent developments and Ilian's impending doom?

It was looking to be quite the finale to a year's worth of enduring.

So the flowers behind her back were sort of a celebratory gesture.

The door swung open, and Dara Kim was leaning against the doorway.

"Hi honey." She gushed, ever warm and loving, just as Jisoo was.

Jennie smiled as Dara enveloped her in a tight hug, closing her eyes and gently rocking Jennie back and forth.

"Hi, Dara." Jennie murmured. "Great to see you."

"I know, I missed you two." Dara sighed, leaning back. "How've you been, honey? God, I don't know if it's possible, but I think you put on more muscle since Christmas break."

Jennie blushed slightly, and Dara glanced at her flowers with a little motherly smirk.

"Big plans, Kim?" She teased.

Jennie smiled, straightening up. "I'm asking Jisoo on a date." She clarified, and Dara's heart melted.

"That is so sweet. You still do that? With flowers? No wonder she's crazy about you." Dara chuckled.

Jennie grinned. "It's a surprise."

"Jisoo, honey. There's someone here to see you!" Dara called, leaning back.

"Coming!" Jisoo called back, likely from the bedroom.

"How long will you be staying?" Jennie asked politely.

"The conference is over by the end of the week. But don't worry, I'll be in a hotel." Dara winked.

Jennie blushed. "You're more than welcome to-"

"Oh, don't worry about it." Dara laughed. "Sorry to open your own door on you, by the way."

Jennie smiled genuinely. "It's alright. We missed you."

Dara sighed and kissed Jennie's head once more. "I'll be moving down soon, I think."

"Mom?" Jisoo questioned. "I didn't expect-"

"Jennie Kim is here to ask you out on a date!" Dara teased, as if it were their first date all over again.

Jisoo feigned a gasp. " The Jennie Kim?" She mocked, coming around the corner.
