"Is he coming back?" Whispered Iceshine. "I bet he's late again! He always is." Replied Cloudstorm. "Besides, She added. I can't raise these two kits alone." "Snowkit and Frostkit are way too young to hear about Hailfur's disappearance." Agreed Iceshine. Mistcloud's kits: Bubblekit, Pebblekit and Puddlekit ran out of the nursery. "We'll be apprentices in a moon!" They bragged to Snowkit and Frostkit. Pebblekit threw snow at Bubblekit and laughed. "Surrender?" Pebblekit mewed. Never!" Hissed Bubblekit. Puddlekit was purring as she aimed her front paw at Pebblekit. "They'll make good warriors." Purred Iceshine. Bubblekit touched her nose to Splashkit's. "Don't worry, I'll help you." She whispered. I don't need your help!" Sighed Splashkit. " I can protect myself!" Pebblekit and Puddlekit hurried to Splashkit's side. As Rainkit buried herself in the snow. "Can we play-fight?" Begged Snowkit and Frostkit. "No. You're too young." Answered Cloudstorm. "Why not?" Cried Frostkit. "You're too young." Repeated Cloudstorm firmly.
