• Chapter 4 •

Sky Blue's PoV

As we walked through the woods, Snow and I kept hearing animal screeches. We were following the man, whose name I found out to be Eric, and we ducked underneath a branch and when we stood up we were stuck between two.

All of a sudden, snakes appeared and started wrapping around the branches, close to our faces. I gulped and held my breath as Snow whimpered. Eric turned around and saw us.

He walked to us and chopped the branch with his axe. All of a sudden the snakes disappeared and so did the noises. "The forest gains its strength from your weakness." He told us before walking a few steps away.

Eric pulled out a flask and took a swig of the liquid inside. "Do you drink to drown your sorrows? Or your conscience?" Snow asked him. "What concern is it of yours, why I drink?" Eric questioned.

"I suppose a man's sorrows are his own." Snow answered. "What does a young girl like you know about sorrow?" Eric questioned. "More than you would think." I shot back, defensively. He just stared at us for a moment before walking towards us.

He used the blade on his axe to rip my dress so it ended just above my knees. Then he did the same for Snow. Usually I would've been appalled, but I understood why he did it. Snow just stared at him. "Don't flatter yourselves. Now stay close." He told us before starting to walk again.

3rd Person's PoV

Rain poured and thunder roared as William stood, blocking the road out of the village. He wore a hooded cape and waited as Finn and his soldiers came to a halt in front of him.

"Do you need a bowman?" William called out to Finn, holding his bow in his hands in front of him. "I have a bowman." Finn answered and William looked over at the bowman, not moving out of their way.

"Kill him." Finn ordered his bowman. The bowman nocked an arrow, drew it, and then let it loose. William dodged it easily and grabbed an arrow, nocked it, drew it, and shot the bowman before he could even reach to grab another arrow. The bowman fell off his horse, dead.

"I said, do you need a bowman?" William spoke again. Finn looked at the body on the ground before looking back at William. He gave a sarcastic scoff as an answer.

Sky Blue's PoV

We stopped walking and Eric turned back to face Snow and I. "Do you know how to fight?" He asked. I twirled the knife he had given me in my hand. "Well, I killed a soldier once. And I had been taking lessons before that. Mostly archery, but I did learn some sword fighting." I answered.

He gave me a nod. "Good. What about you?" He asked my twin. She shook her head. She always preferred exploring to having lessons. I did too for any lessons except archery and sword-fighting.

He started giving her a lesson, but I zoned out as I thought about my lessons.

~Flashback~

I watched William as he took out an arrow, nocked it, drew it, and then shot. He was in the middle ring of the target, so he wasn't too far off, but it wasn't bullseye.
