Sitting on your horse, you couldn't help but side glance at the elf king. Something about him peaked your interest.

When blue eyes met yours, you quickly looked away, biting the inside of your cheek as you mentally scold yourself for being caught. Though, you were thankful he didn't say anything about it. Sighing, you carried on doing your own thing, wondering if you'd ever get to see your friends again. Mentally you begun to form a plan.

As you drew closer to the city of dale, you found yourself smiling at the sight of others like you. Humans.

When King Thranduil has his tent sent up, her ordered you to stand on the inside, though you mostly tuned everything out. You couldn't help but feel something bad was going to happen.

"If I am not mistaken this is the halfling that stole the keys to my dungeon under the nose of my guards."

Now that caught you attention. Looking to who he was speaking to you froze.

"Yesh..."
"BILBO!"

Pulling the helmet off you lunged at the little hobbit and picked him up.

"(Y/N)! You're okay?!"
"I'm great!" You beamed.

Someone cleared their throat and you sheepishly put down the hobbit and grinned at Thranduil.

"Wait outside. We don't need any distractions."
"Okay!"

He rolled his eyes as you walked out the tent.

As the next morning came you refused to fight the dwarfs. You could see the rage on Thranduil face, but you refused to fight your friends.

"You are at my mercy! You will do as I say!"
"No! The dwarfs aren't your enemy!"
"They are whatever I say they are!"

Frowning, you threw your helmet to the floor. Spun around on your heel and begun to walk away, stopping to cast him a look over your shoulder as you smiled.

"I hope we cross paths under different circumstances."

He scoffed and watched as you walked away. That's when all hell broke loose. Orca begun to raid the city and you did your best to help the people.

Gasping for air, you begun making your way down the street.

"...are you ready to die for it?"

You recognised that voice and in an instant you were running towards it. Both yourself and Legolas threw yourself in front of the king.

"You'll have to go threw us." You said.

Both Legolas and Thranduil looked at you.

"Thank you." Legolas whispered running off.

You scowled as Thranduil watched them go. He lowered his sword and turned to you.

"Why?"
"She loves him." You smiled.
"She knows not of love!"
"Love is love! It doesn't matter who it be between! You cannot take that from her!"

He opened his mouth, then closed it again. Spinning around you begun to run away.

"Where are you going?!"
"To help them!"

Thankfully it wasn't hard to find them, running around the tower you frantically begun to search for them all. Finding a door way you entered and your heart broke.

"Kili..." You whispered.

Your heart eyes met Tauriel's. Bringing a hand to your mouth, you stumbled back into a warm chest. Looking up, you saw Thranduil.

"If this is love I do not want it, take it. Why does it hurt?" She sobbed.
"Because it was real."

Pushing past Thranduil, you staggered through the halls only to bump into someone else, this time they wrapped their arms around you and let you cry silently into their chest.

"I'm sorry." He whispered.

Pushing of him, you shook your head with a little smile.

"It's okay... he's in a better place.."

With that, you brushed past him, head to the base of the hill you came from. You couldn't bare to see the other two, so you begun to walk away. Dropping the eleven armour on your way, you weren't sure where to go.

"(Y/N)!"

Stopping you waited for the owner of the voice to catch up, only to see Legolas once again.

"I'm leaving, will you come with me? I know we hardly know each other, but it would be nice to have a friend on the road."

He smiled softly at you.

"I... I can't. I have stay for the funeral, they're my friends. Then I think I'll take some time alone. I'm sorry legolas."

He nodded in understanding and placed a kiss to the top of your head as he handed you one of his daggers.

"It's okay, I understand. If you change your mind head for Rivendell, I won't be far."
"Stay safe." You smiled.

Legolas nodded once more as he walked away. Looking around on body covered field. Another set of footsteps came over and you connected eyes with a testy Thranduil.

"You do not have to return." He said.
"Thank you." You smiled lightly.

Thranduil gently placed his hand on your cheek as he looked you in the eyes.

"You always smile, no mater what happens, you always smile. Today has opened my eyes, should you wish to return to Mirkwood, you are more than welcome to. I know I have not been very kind to you, but I wish to change that."
"Thank you Thranduil."

He leaned down and kissed your cheek slightly as he pulled away and started to walk away. Sighing, you stared up into the sky, you felt torn between them, you didn't know who to choose.

"I know you dislike the elves, but what do you think Thorin?" You whispered, "the prince or the king?"

Smiling, you slowly started walking back to the halls of Erebor, replaying all the memories you had made in your head
