"kookie, please." yoongi cried a river as he watched jungkook pack up all his belongings into a box until his room was nearly empty, "it's not what it seems like, i swear!"

jungkook stops moving for a second, almost as if he were thinking but dismissed it and kept throwing all of his belongings into the cardboard.

yoongi ran to him in an instant, hugging him from behind and doing anything to stop jungkook from leaving from his grasp, just like a balloon that had been cut at by the string.

he was jumping for the balloon, his fingers barely grazing the thin string before it flew higher, just out of reach. yoongi could just watch as it got further and further in the distance.

jungkook pried off yoongi's hold on him and continued to pack his things until there was nothing left besides the bed and the stars left scattered across the walls. the sparkling effect had disappeared the same way the sparkle in jungkook's eyes were no longer there.

"hyung, i believe you." jungkook murmured as he put on his backpack and grabbed his box effortlessly.

yoongi tugs at the box in jungkook's hands to try and put it back down on the bed, "then don't leave, kookie! don't leave me! please!" he clung onto jungkook's arm, shaking it gently as his salty tears continued dripping down his sweet face, "i'll change! i'll be better! i'll be perfect, just for you! just don't leave me! please."

those words struck jungkook's heart differently, he hated that yoongi even said that, even thought that for a second. yoongi was perfect just the way he was, it was himself, jeon jungkook, who needed to change.

to grow up.

he couldn't do that here, where he was just given everything. he wanted to earn it and learn from his mistakes so eventually he could pay yoongi back to show his never ending gratitude, but if that were to happen, he'd have to leave first.

"i need to find myself first, hyung." jungkook looked away from yoongi's small figure, which looked as though he was getting smaller by the second. he hated seeing yoongi cry, given it was the only time he had actually seen it, but he knew that it was something he'd never like to see again.

jungkook kept his grip strong on the box, walking past yoongi who tried to block the door to stop the boy from leaving for good. he failed though, only because he didn't move himself fast enough. he stood for a second watching jungkook go down the steps and towards the entrance.

yoongi made one last ditch effort to stop him, he ran down the stairs after jungkook and locked the front door. his short arms covered the width of the frame, his face was looking up so he could see jungkook, almost as if he was giving him one last chance to change his mind and go back upstairs.

the smaller boy panted, his heart was beating wildly against his chest having just ran and his pretty tears still running against his supple milky white skin that jungkook adored.

seeing just how broken yoongi looked made jungkook want to fix it, tell him that he won't leave him, but... he couldn't.

jungkook trekked slowly over to where yoongi was still trying his sheer best to block the exit. he placed the box down on the ground and simply hooked a finger under the older boy's chin and tilted his head up a bit more so they saw eye to eye.

the younger boy moved his head towards yoongi's, lips ghosting each other's as jungkook whispers softly, "i'll be back for you, i promise."

yoongi's knees buckled, feeling his whole body go limp before jungkook finally presses his lips against his.

jungkook could taste the saltiness of yoongi's tears on his tongue, the desperation behind the older boy's kiss, trying to deepen it to stall or even make jungkook forget that he was trying to leave. yoongi even managed to grab jungkook's clothes in his hands, fisting the soft cotton fabric of the younger boy's black hoodie.

it took a lot of effort to stop yoongi, he sighed sadly against his hyung's swollen glossy red lips.

"i promise." he pecked yoongi on the lips one last time before reaching down to grab his box. jungkook placed a hand on yoongi's shoulder, moving him to the side gently so he could exit, which he finally managed to do.

yoongi watched from the door as the taxi driver helped jungkook with his belongings, all the way to the point where jungkook himself was now entering the car.

it was uneventful from there as yoongi's blurry eyes witnessed the car drive off into the distance. the balloon had finally flown up too high for him to ever reach, let alone see.

it was never coming back, and he could only cry like a child over the loss.
