Ugly and Dangerous

"Casimir." Triton proudly called the prince with his given name and shielded Adira away from his piercing eyes.

"What are you doing Dalriada?" Crackles and a blue aura was swirling around Casimir's intimidating figure and stalked closer to Triton.

But the latter had no fear anymore. As long as Adira was with him, nothing scares him. Even this Great Demon Lord of the Empire.

It didn't take Casimir too many steps to stand and tower over the blonde man before he grabbed his collars and threw him over.

The shock and surprise coupled with the impact when he hit the pillar momentarily took his breath away before he coughed heavily.

"Triton!" Adira's worried voice filtered through Casimir's ears before the woman passed by him, her hair flowing behind her, as she ran towards the bastard's side.

Her actions were confusing him.

Why is she running to his side? Why is she worried about him? What is going on? What did I miss? What? WHAT!

Casimir's mind was plunging deeper into the abyss as his thoughts were turning redder, crazier and deadlier. The mere sight of his wife running to another man's side was filling him with antipathy. Ugly and dangerous.

"Adira." His voice, as cold as the freezing winter, called her name and she felt an undeniable chill run down her spine.

This man was ready to shed blood.

"Your highness, what did Triton ever do to you?"

And yet, she was bravely facing him. She didn't know where she was pulling this much courage from but she knew that this man, even as dangerous and as murderous as he was looking right then, would never hurt a hair on her.

"What the hell is going on here? Why are you taking his side? Why are you on his side?"

"Why shouldn't I be on my husband's side?"

And those simple words shocked the prince to his core. So much that he couldn't pull any words out of his tongue. He was just frozen there—watching the woman he loves act like he was a complete stranger as she tended to the other man.

"Are you okay, Triton?" She softly asked him.

"I'm fine, my love." Triton called her with an endearment on purpose—to let this prince hear it loud and clear and let him know that Adira was his now.

But it was just another fuse lit inside the man's head that was pushing him to erase Triton from his sight. He rushed forward and ripped the man out from his wife's arms and drove a punch straight to his torso.

However, it didn't end there. Casimir caught him by his collar and threw the bastard over his back. He then kept him there by placing his knee over the man's chest and kept a strong grip on his neck.

He was ready to kill him. No. He will kill him!

"Your highness! Let him go!" Adira, in a desperate attempt to pry the raging Casimir off Triton, she pulled him by his shoulder and arms with searing hands that left a burnt mark on it.

She was so scared about what this prince may do to Triton. It was like she knew from the back of her mind that he was able to kill without a shred of mercy if provoked.

"You've been calling me your highness nonstop for a while now. What is wrong with you, Adira? What the hell happened?"

She successfully drew his attention, but abruptly regretted it the moment it happened. The great demon lord took large strides closer to her while she took small yet hurried steps away from him.

"My wife, why are you running away from me?"

Casimir's voice was soft, melancholic and hurt. His heart was clenching in undeniable pain as he watched the Lady step away from him—as he watched his wife cower in fear from him.

"I'm sorry if I did you wrong. Please. Come to me."

"Your highness. I am not your wife. Why are you calling me as such?"

There was genuine confusion and bewilderment in the woman's eyes that Casimir didn't know what to do, think or feel. It couldn't be that his wife was doing this on purpose, right? Why would she need to go this far if it was?

And that was when Casimir remembered his father's words. About how he asked his wife something so misleading that it made the latter misunderstand his words.

Is she mad about it? Is she leaving me?

"Adira, Father did not mean anything about his words. You can't leave me just because of something like that."

"Your highness, forgive me but... I don't remember ever talking with his majesty."

"Get away from him, Adira!"

Triton's voice came in between the pair and attracted the great demon lord's anger once again. Casimir was about to start another onslaught of attack—specifically targeting the man's solar plexus—when Adira suddenly came in between them and received the attack instead.

"Why.. do you hurt.. my husband?" She spoke softly before falling into the arms of the frozen prince, solidifying with icy coldness and bitterness.

The Adira that was in front of them was just like the Adira of the first life—the Adira that could not see, love or care about anyone but Triton, the Adira that would literally throw her life on the line for Triton, the Adira that was madly in love with this Lord.

However, what differed her from her first life was the sense that something was wrong—the strange feeling she got when she saw this first prince and that moment when she should've been happy about finally marrying Triton, about him finally loving her back, but she wasn't.

She wasn't! And it was all too confusing and weird. Like there was something amiss.

And thus, the beast inside Casimir broke free. His eyes turned red as he let his anger swallow him and directed it to the mongrel that dared to do something—he doesn't know what—to his precious woman.

The ice crept rapidly towards the man that he was sure he would've been impaled a hundred times—bored holes through his body—if not for a person that went through a portal and pulled him in to extract him out of there.

"Adira!!!"

Notes:
Hi! So we still have this heartaching chapters ahead of us. Bear with them and support them all the way, okay? Everything will definitely be okay.

P.S. I'm really sorry if it seems as if I'm dragging them away more. They need to face hardships still. And I'm sure I noted it in the earlier chapters how our Queen attracts trouble like a magnet it's almost impossible, right? Lol. I'm really just justifying why I am pulling them apart. But just sit tight and enjoy the rollercoaster ride of emotions ❤️ Thank you!
