Chapter 29
He’s not there in the morning.
He’s at school though.
He’s waiting for me.
He isn’t smiling.
He asks me where I got my black eye.
He says he’s being serious.
I don’t say anything.
I look down.
He asks if it was my mom.
I say I fell on the floor.
He doesn’t believe me.
But he pretends he does.
He wraps an arm around me.
It feels normal.
But I’m not his friend.
He’s just mine.
