𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝, 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐚𝐫 & 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲.

Chapter Twenty-six.

          THE SOUNDS OF THUNDER ERUPTED through the house, booming and the sound of raindrops hitting the window were erupt and seemed to be endless. Ramona lays next to Cain, she was wide awake and she was terrified. She didn't know how Ophelia could sleep through it because she hardly couldn't herself. The loud booming and Ramona could hear the next door neighbors dogs barking so erratically that she felt horrible for them. She raises up and she shakes Cain. "Cain, I'm scared, I can't go back to sleep." Ramona whispered and Cain raises up, he motioned for her to come closer.

His hair was all in his face and he pulled her closer to him and she felt a bit better but she didn't like how loud it was. Raining in the countryside was a lot different from the city because they lived spaced out from everyone else, the roads are just dirt so it flooded all the time which meant that kids weren't going to school for the next two days and that means the family had to stay for another day or two because of the weather.

Lighting crackled in the sky making Ramona flinch, she clutched Cain's arm as she felt his hand stroke her hand. "Ramona, it's okay, I'm here." Cain tells her kissing the back of her head and she hears movement in the hallway, also a shadow near the doorway. Ramona gets up and she slowly tiptoes towards the door, she looks out the room and she sees the shadow walking down the hallway. She walks out of the room and she sees them go downstairs. Ramona goes downstairs and she hears someone sitting in the living room.

It was Chip, curled up on the couch and his head leaned down while his arms covered him. He was shaking and crying. "Chip?" Ramona called his name as she got closer, she touched his shoulder and he quickly slapped her arm away. Ramona let out a sharp exhale, she pulls her hand away and she rubbed her wrist as she stepped back. "Hey.. Chip.. it's okay, it's Ramona and you're not where you think you are." Ramona tells him and she sits near him, the house is suddenly booming like multiple drums getting beated on making her jump. Ramona's hand goes back to his back, he pulls away a little but he eased and he starts to relax under her touch. "Hey... it's okay." She whispers to him and he shakes his head as he cries. "I can't do it, it's too loud and we're all gonna drown." He cried and Ramona rubs his back as he sobbed.

"Jesus." She muttered, she quickly gets up and she runs back to the room, Ramona gets to Cain. "Cain... your brother.. he's crying." Ramona says shaking him and Cain immediately raises up at the words of him crying, he rakes his hair back and he raises up, letting is eyes adjust to the dark. Cain gets up and he follows behind Ramona back downstairs. Cain sees Chip on the couch, he frowns as he looks at Ramona and he carefully sits next to Chip. His long arms draped around him and he kisses Chip's head. "C'mon, let's get you back to bed." Cain whispered and Chip shakes his head as he finally lifts his head, you could see the white of his eyes and they were bloodshot red also his cheeks are heavily tinted red. "I'm not going back by myself." Chip mumbled and Ramona looks at Cain then at Chip. "Here you can come sleep with us, it's okay, you'll be safe with us." Ramona tells him and Cain nodded. "Yeah, you'll sleep in the middle."

"I don't want to intervene—"

"It's okay, you're scared and we said we were gonna protect you so come on." Ramona tells him and Chip doesn't say a word, Chip gets up and Cain wraps his arm around him as he guided him back to their room. "Here, I'll get you a pillow." Ramona says and she gives him another pillow from their closet. She comes back and she puts the pillow under him then she gets in next to him. Chip looked a bit tense and Ramona looks as Cain, eyeing him to say something. "Remember when we were kids and you use to collect those little snails after it rained?" Cain questioned Chip, he looks over at his brother and he nodded.

"One day, I never thought I would tell you this but it rained... but you got so upset because there were no snails so you cried your head off and I felt bad. So, the next morning, I woke up early just to go to the next block, pick up any snail that I saw and purposely put them around our house for you to get some." Cain explained and Chip's eyes went wide with surprise because he had no idea, he thought it was like snail heaven and they all just magically appeared so the could live in his snail farm. "You did that? I thought they just magically appeared, they did but not how I expected." Chip explained and Ramona pouted because that was the cutest story ever.
