Alex's POV
I'm sitting in the kitchen dazed out while drinking a glass of water. What the hell is taking them so long? It's been 30 min and their still talking.
I finish my water and go to put the cup in the sink when I hear someone call my name
"Alex?" I hear Doctor Ashley call
I walk to the care room and enter seeing them both sitting down waiting for me
"Yeah?" I ask
"Alex we wanted to ask you for a favour. I know it might sound crazy and it's fine if you don't feel comfortable but we can cho-" dr. Ashley starts to ramble before he's cut off by the one and only Ace
"Ashley stop the rambling. God! Alex, will you marry me?" Ace blurts out
"Excuse me?" I ask wondering if I heard right
"Will you marry me?" He says again this time a bit more annoyed
"Are you serious?" I snort out
What the fuck is he talking about
"Listen, I need someone to leave everything behind to. Just incase things don't go well. I need you to make sure that my company doesn't close because there are thousands of people that I am helping at the moment and if it closes, they all lose their jobs" he says dead serious
"Which is why I want to marry you. I know you won't let that happen and that you-"
"Stop stop stop. So your serious? You want to marry me! Why the fuck are you marrying me!?" I ask with confusion written all over my face
"Don't you have other people to leave your stuff behind for? An-a-and, the company, I don't know shit about business. How am I gonna take care of your company when I don't know shit!? I only take care of people, not companies!" I yell throwing my hands in the air
"Alex calm down dear, just listen to what he has to say" the doctor tells me putting a hand on my shoulder to calm me down
"I don't have anyone. And if I don't have a partner to leave things for, my parents will inherit everything. They will destroy the company leaving many people jobless. I can't have that happening. And don't worry about the company, I have people who are managing it. You only need to make sure that it doesn't close down or that any harm comes it's way. I've worked hard for it" he says walking closer to me until he's standing inches away from my face
I stare into his eyes and see them pleading me to do this
"Your the only person I can trust" he says holding my hand in his
"But, you don't even know me" I say
"Your the only person I know." He says with his voice cracking
"Nothing is serious, if the surgery goes well, then you can get a divorce and won't have to worry about anything else. You will be staying here at the mansion with full service for you" the doctor adds on
"Please Alex. Do this, for me" Ace says pleadingly
"I'm sorry. I can't do this right now" I say and pull away from him leaving the room
"Give her time to think" I hear the doctor say to Ace before I leave
I run up to my room and close the door behind me sitting on my bed
What the hell was happening? I didn't even have anyone to ask for advice from. How was I just supposed to marry him? He's only known me for 1 week, was he absurd!?
I lie on my bed and try to make a pros and cons list in my head. I cry a few times at how shitty and alone my life was until I fall asleep
What was I supposed to do? I wasn't sure
I wake up and notice it's 6pm. I must of fallen asleep for a few hours. I open the door and head downstairs and see both Ace and the Doctor sitting in the living room
They both turn their heads to me and I stand their awkwardly
I had made a decision that I was probably going to end up regretting
"Alex-" I interrupt the doctor
"I'll do it. I'll marry you" I spit out
"You will?" I hear both of them ask
"Yes. But only because I don't want people loosing their jobs. That would break my heart" I say
"I knew she would agree because of that" I hear Ace say with a chuckle
"This is great. As soon as we take care of the documents, we will need to take you right away for the surgery because we don't have much time Ace" the doctor tells us
"Alright, let me call my lawyer" he says
After a few hours of signing and going through contracts after contracts, Ace pulls a few strings here and there and somehow gives me a contract to sign. And after reading and signing that, we somehow are married.... His lawyer and a representative of the city are there to make sure everything is legal and pronounces us as husband and wife. After they leave, it's around 9pm. Well that was a fast wedding
"I never thought this is how I would end up getting married" I say with a sigh sitting on the sofa
"Trust me, me neither" Ace says taking a seat beside me
Dr. Ashley left a few minutes ago and told us that he would come tomorrow to take Ace into surgery
"Thank you for doing this" Ace breaths out facing me
"There was really no other choice" I say
What have I done.....
