Chapter 29 – Chris POV

Delusion. The definition simple, when a belief is held with such strong conviction that no matter the evidence faced with, one cannot be swayed otherwise. Now, I couldn't be sure of the reason but I was able to see things clearly, Anna was batshit crazy.

I left my old house with the two cars we came with full of all my belongings, my mother, father, Lucy and Nico, all filling one of our small unmarked moving trucks with their belongings. Sitting in the Infiniti, I watched them move with Jared, Grant and Sean helping, wishing they would hurry up because I was getting antsy. I would help if it weren't for the fact that Derrick, Anna and the Elders were now inside the house as well.

Watching as Jared lifted my parents' chest into the truck; I was startled by Logan laughing deeply, out of nowhere, "what the fuck?" he chuckled out loud, not telling me what was going on. Lucy came out of the house, and her face matched Logans in a completely different way. While only humor colored Logans eyes, disbelief and utter puzzlement colored Lucy, not a single trace of humor.

Walking towards us, her arms crossed against her chest, Nico coming behind her big smile, biting his lips, two knocks on the window, Logan made it slide down, "Do you know what is going on in there?" Lucy snapped at me, while Logan continued to chuckle... what was I missing? I flipped back and forth between the three of them.

"She has lost her ever loving mind Chris!" Lucy said, just as Anna came out of the main house with a suit case approaching the truck.

"I'm coming with you Chris," Anna her face blotchy and eye rims bright red, said standing next to Lucy who was giving me the stink eye, "I have nothing left here either, please Logan-" I didn't even bother to let her finish that sentence before I pressed the switch making my window go back up as Logan was laughing hysterically in the seat next to mine.

"How did you never realize she was like this?" he choked out smiling, joking, teasing me... "Sometimes Logan you only see what you want too," I replied he didn't understand.

"You saw what you wanted too..." he responded no smiles, but I shook my head.

"I was ashamed Logan, I couldn't fight for her, I loved her, but it ... do you know how much of a prob-"

"So now she was a problem?" he cut me off, angry with my terms but that was my own fault I used the wrong words.

"No! No! I'm a grown man Logan! But when she was around, when you guys were around, I ignored all the talk, all the stares, I rose above it Logan! All the implications... no matter how strange others found it, I just – it didn't look right," I said tightly leaving it at that, hopefully he'd understand.

"It didn't look right?" he repeated my words, "But it looked right to give up on her?" he asked and he wanted an answer, it wasn't rhetorical at all.

"None of it was right, I can only change how I act now, from here on out, everything is in her hands Logan, don't you get that? I'm at her mercy now," I said resting back, closing my eyes ignoring the dispute going on right outside the door between Lucy and Anna until we couldn't.

"We're family Lucy," Anna shouted, her face eight inches from Lucy's, "I can't stay here after everything happened, I have nothing and no one, but you guys... and you're leaving," Anna cried.

"So you want to punish yourself, move to Logans pack to watch Chris and Rainy-" Anna's face darkened her eyes, nearly black as she growled.

"Why would he even want her anyways, she's damaged-" Anna tried to respond but she didn't get that far, before Logan and I even had a chance to make a move, to defend Rainy, to extricate ourselves from the car, Lucy tangled her hands into Annas' blonde hair, yanking her head back and then slamming it up against the car window which surprisingly didn't shatter on impact as I believed it would.

"Bulletproof," Logan answered my unvoiced question shrugging.

"Hasn't your family done enough? You've broken mine apart Anna! Your sister is the reason his mate was kidnapped and why Logan wasn't given help... and you think in that broken mind of yours that you'd be what? Welcomed to come along?" Lucy smashed her head against the car once again. This had to be another universe or realm or something because Lucy was the least violent person I even knew. Her mate Nico was standing proud, smiling down at his mate.

"If you come anywhere near my brother or Rainy or their children, I will kill you like the Elders killed your sister!" Lucy growled over Anna's whimpering. The chaos gathering attention, the Elders came out, bringing Martin, Beth and Derrick behind them.

Stepping out of the car, hoping over Anna, not bothering to help her up, I went to stand next to Logan, "Elders," he acknowledged them offhandedly.

"What is going on here?" they asked and again it was like Martin earlier, they had perfect hearing, surely they heard what Lucy said, why ask again.

"Your pack member was harassing mine Martin, please control your pack," Logan sneered, the insult to Martin and his control obvious.

My parents came pulling suitcases behind them, hands full they placed the last of their belongings, watery eyed mom approached Martin, who instead of letting her approach spoke gruffly, "Please leave my territory," he snapped avoiding my parents eyes, focusing only on Logan before turning abruptly, pulling Beth with him.
