106 19 15

they were sitting next to each other
their hands stiff, knuckles white,
muscles on their arms showing
how much it takes to stay away -
inches away, yet miles apart
do the fingers not know yet of
the conflict between their hearts
the same land stretching beyond horizons
yet separated by the namesake border
even the salt on the shores of their land taste different now
a pang of regret on one's, a sharpness of rage on other's
how much does it take to blur the distance
shut down the lights and look how
we are all under the same constellations
waiting for the vastness of the sky to swallow us
waiting for death to someday descend down
like a long forgotten dream
and empty our lungs of all air
and hold our hands down to the dust
when shall we realise that
it's only love that could save us
it's only love we run away from
it's only love we should come back for

Author's note:

It was hard to write, after so many days. I'm feeling a lot better after this. :') I'm really proud of myself. Inspired by the below excerpt:

"My parents were in a long distance relationship for over 30 years ⁣
and they lived in the same house. ⁣
I've seen how you can be ⁣
right next to someone, but also ⁣
a thousand miles away from them without asking geography for its opinion.⁣

Often, the space between 2 people ⁣
can be measured by the amount of times they look at each other ⁣
and feel nothing " —By Rudy Francisco | "Nothing"⁣
