Your mother steps forward and stands beside your father.

Your mouth hangs open, opening and closing in an attempt to formulate a response, but nothing comes out. You're driven to complete shock and betrayal, mind unable to keep up.

''I....'' you gulp harshly, the words in your throat stuck like ice. ''...I don't understand...''

Your mother, the only family you thought you had left, was also a part of all this?

''I refuse to believe it...'' your voice comes out as a nearly silent cacophony of sorrow and confusion. ''You're controlling her...give my mum back!''

''This is her true self. She isn't being controlled'' your father states, arm placed around her back. ''Right, dear?''

''He's right, Y/N'' she answers, ''I'm sorry you had to find out this way''

''What? Didn't we kick dad out because he went crazy? How are you still with him? And all these days you nagged about not going out because it's dangerous and shit, so how-'' you ruffle your hair, mind almost bursting as you tried to make sense of everything, ''Wait, didn't they kidnap you after you were knocked out in hospital?''

Your mother sighs, beckoning the seven to go out the room and give you some private space. They oblige, walking out in an orderly manner before closing the door behind them.

''Well then'' your mother turns to you, ''I guess I should explain everything''

After being dismissed from the hall, the seven boys lean against the wall, bewildered and confused themselves.

''bro, you messed up big time!'' Jungkook paces back and forth, shaking his head.

''Why did you even respond when she called out?'' Yoongi asks.

''How the hell was I meant to know he was her father?'' Taehyung retaliates in annoyance, ''and her mum too, I thought she was dying the other day?''

''About that...'' Namjoon speaks up, ''there's something us hyungs know that you don't'' he says, eyes flickering over Jimin, Jungkook and Taehyung.

''When Y/N's mum was supposedly 'attacked', it was all set up. The body you guys found was a clone'' Jin continues, ''In fact, she's been working here with Y/N's father since the beginning''

''What the fuck? I thought the Lord was a guy all this time'' Jimin runs a hand through his hair to ease his headache. ''How is it her mum?''

''It is her mum but it's not at the same time'' Hoseok speaks up, eyes glittering like the stars on his mask. ''Kinda like a double personality..''

''My last brain cell just died. What the fuck is going on?'' Jungkook exclaims in utter confusion.

''She has two persona's, or something called a memory transition. When she is at home with Y/N alone, she forgets everything associated with the cult. But when she goes to work, it is switched back on and she remembers everything'' Namjoon explains as simply as he could. ''It's either that, or they're possessed..'' he mutters the last bit under his breath.

''What the fuck is the point of that? And here I was trying to avoid her...'' Taehyung mumbles.

''She experimented on herself to allow the memory transition to take place. Think about it, if she was the same person at home, Y/N would've found out earlier than they wanted her to'' he continues, biting his lip in thought. ''my assumption is, they will try and manipulate her so she joins them''
