'Dawn'

I didn't want him to leave bed this morning.

It felt like we had a ticking time-bomb,

not knowing even if it would go off or not.

So, every minute counting down was precious to me.

Because as confident as Namjoon was,

nothing was guaranteed.

And as much as they planned,

they could never account for the confounding variable.

I stared at the clock on the nightstand, 4:59 AM turning to 5:00 AM.

It had been 8 minutes since Taehyung left the room.

8 minutes was enough time for me to safely follow after.

Slipping out of the room, I crept up the stairs, trying to make my steps as light as possible.

I didn't want to give myself away, not when this was the only way I could get information.

Stepping into the hallway, I listened carefully, nothing giving me a clue of where they were.

Heart drumming against my chest, I bolted across the living area, making it to the sliding doors to another hallway.

The running water was the first thing I heard coming from one of the rooms, but then came the whispers spilling out from the space the door had forgotten to close.

Stepping closer, I hugged the wall, trying to make out the whispers.

It was Taehyung's voice that was speaking, tired and overly-exhausted and I didn't know if it was from waking up so early or the conversation he was having.

"Who?" he asked.

"Everyone." the other, Hoseok, replied.

What were they talking about?

Were they alone?

I leaned my ear in closer as it got painfully quiet.

So much that I feared they found out I was listening.

Peeking through the crack the door left, I found Taehyung staring at Hoseok.

Hands in his pockets, shoulders slumped, he just stared, simmering in whatever Hoseok just revealed.

Why did he look so hopeless?

His voice finally broke, whispering, "Understood."

Hoseok clenched his jaw, nodding. "I'll buy you more time... Not a lot, but just enough..."

Leaning in, he finished his sentence,

too far for me to make out.

But if I had to guess,

It was just enough...

to change everything.
