"Ohh," Jenny clasped over and I walked towards her.
"What's wrong?" I asked worried. Jamie and Ian where out in the fields with the watch and a new guest Horrocks.
"Dinna Fash," Jenny spoke but she took mine arm. "Jamie. Gang 'n' fetch yer faither. Say him th' bairn is comin'," Wee Jamie ran away and I helped Jenny up the stairs to her bedroom.
"Breath Jenny," was the only thing I could say.
"Oi Ah ken," but she grasped mine hand thigter and suddenly water splashed down on the ground. Her water was broken.
"Aye," Ian ran in as fast as he could with his wooden leg. "James is fetching th' midwife dear."
"Let him hurry," she puffed and Ian nodded.
"Ah will come back quickly," and left.
I know it was costume for men to leave during childbirth.
"I should go to," I spoke but she grabbed mine wrist.
"Stay," she begged and stayed as she huffed and puffed.
"Talk to me Jenny, talk to me how it is to be pregnant." I said to distract her of the birth and it worked.
She talked and talked about it and before I know the midwife arrived.
"Aye, lay doon," she said to Jenny and Jenny laid down.
The midwife talked in Gaelic and judging on the face of Jenny it wasn't good.
I felt nerveus as I saw the midwife tried to turn the baby. Apparently it laid wrong.
Jenny looked strong but she took mine hand and almost broke every bone in it by squeezing hard.
"Relax Jenny," I spoke as I stroke her hair and she relaxed a little.
The midwife said something in Gaelic again and Jenny letted out a scream letting me know she was pushing. I looked away from it, not handeling blood that well. Damn this was even much different than that time I saw Jamie's shoulder was pushed back.
"GREER!" Jenny roared and I looked at her.
"What?" I asked worried and looked at the midwife.
"Blather tae me Lass," she spoke and I looked at her again.
"Ehmm," I tought. "About what?"
"Anything, just blather," she letted out a scream again and pushed.
"Well," I started to tell a folkstale from the Netherlands: the witte wieven.
She didn't actual listen to it but she looked very pleased with the distraction as she pushed again.
It felt like a eternity but than a small cry of a young baby was heared.
"It's a lass," the midwife spoke and I looked outside to see the sun had risen.
"You where wrong," I smiled at Jenny who was certain it was Boy.
"Aye," she looked at the child. "Hello there Maggie," she smiled and I smiled as well.
"I get Ian," I stood up and walked down to find Ian in the dinningroom with the head of the watch and Jamie. "Ian," I smiled. "You have a daughter,"
Ian jumped up as good as he could and walked as fast as he could out of the room.
Jamie also stood up and walked towards me. "Came," he said with a smirk and I knew what he meant.

"Do you?" I asked as I sat up, covering mine body with the sheet.
"Aye," Jamie pressed a kiss on mine cheek. "Ah wull be back, mo ghràdh, ah promise,"
"You have to, or I drag you by your hair back to bed," I smiled and he laughed as well.
"Hmh, ah wouldna complain," he pressed another kiss on mine mouth and than left.
I had an uneasy feeling in mine stomach. It had been two nights ago since I had the nightmare of our goodbye and it pretty felt like that now.
I stood up and wrapped the sheet around me like a dress looking outside just to see Jamie leave with the watch and Ian with him.
Jamie explained he had to go because they missed a man: Horrocks. Jamie didn't say why he was missed but something told me he was involved in the missing.
A baby cried in the distance and I remembered Jenny and the new baby.
I sighed and started to gather mine clothing. In the time Jamie and Ian weren't here I could better make myself usefull. Starting with taking care of Jenny and the new girl: Maggie.
