I woke up with a sigh. I got up slowly, letting my tired limps wake up along with me. I started getting ready for the day and went downstairs when I was ready. Bash was already making breakfast. He greeted me by pulling me close and kissed me on the temple.
I smiled. "Goodmorning."
"How did you sleep?" Bash asked.
I leaned against a counter. "Well. What about you?"
Bash placed a hand on my hip, his body pressing against me. "Very well, my angel."
I pushed him away, laughing. "I love the compliments. Keep them coming."
Bash pulled away. "Of course, my angel."
I brushed my hair behind both of my ears. "What's for breakfast?"
"Potatoes and eggs," Bash replied. "It's all that I could find."
"That's fine," I said. "I like both of those. Though I must admit that I don't particularly like scrambled eggs."
"That's fine," Bash said. "I made another type of eggs. You don't have many spices. I wanted to give you a Trinidad special but I only found these."
"We can go to town sometime," I suggested. "We could try and find something there."
Bash brushed my hair away from my face. "That would be nice. I haven't made it into the town."
I started getting plates. "I don't think I'll be much of a tour guide. We might have to bring Gilbert."
A pot scraped across the stovetop. "That's fine. Any time with you is a good time."
I smiled as I sat down. "Thank you. You compliment me."
I felt his eyes on me for a second. "I like you a lot, Aria."
I bit my lip, trying not to smile but failing to blush. "Thank you, Bash. I like you too. You are an enjoyable presence to share my days with me."
"Speaking of which, would you join me for a walk after breakfast?" Bash asked. "I want to see more of the property."
I tapped his hand. "I know just the way. If my memory serves me right, there's a path off the main road that leads to a lake. Gilbert and I used to swim in it when we were younger. I even swam it in when I first became blind."
"Do you swim it in now?" Bash asked.
I smiled teasing mischievously. "I may have skinny-dipped a little bit but you didn't hear it from me."
"You got there yourself?" Bash asked with surprise. "And skinny dipped? By yourself?"
I smiled wider. "Of course. I'm a rebel with a cause. I'm a blind woman and I wouldn't - and won't - let that get in the way of having fun."
Bash laughed a little. "You are one interesting person. We have to clean up before we go out. Do you want to pack a lunch in case we are out late?"
I tapped my plate for any more food. "Sure. I'll pack the food while you wash the plates."
"That's a plan, sweetheart."
I got up and started packing everything. I listened to the sounds of Bash cleaning the dishes as I put a lot of stuff in the basket I had found. I smiled a little. It felt like Bash and I were married, being domestic and all.
Bash grabbed my arm. "Are you ready?"
I nodded. "Almost. Can you grab the water for me? I forgot where I set it."
I was of course lying. It was right beside me. Bash pressed against me to grab the water. I placed a hand on his hip and I felt a brush of his lips against my forehead.
