Kung gustong ma-publish [Filipino/English]

Publishers are in business to make money from printing and distributing books.

They might end up fulfilling your dreams, but that is not why they're in business.

When you ask a publisher to publish your book, know that you are asking them to spend P50,000 to P100,000 on your book. On your story. On your idea.

And don't expect them to want to listen to you "explain" how you want to end it, na hindi mo pa nasusulat. Submit a FINISHED STORY.

2. Maraming readers ba ito?

Sensitive topic ito kasi napansin kong maraming inggitan na nagaganap over reads and followers. However a publisher looks into this kasi nakikita nila na pag maraming reader ang story, mas madaling ibenta ang libro.

3. Is it well-written?

Publishers will ignore (THEY WILL NOT EVEN READ) stories with bad grammar.

The truth is, you are competing with writers everywhere, if you want to be noticed.

The way to be noticed, by publishers, and also readers, is to be a GOOD WRITER. Finish your stories, write well, learn how to write well.

I'm a bit saddened by the questions I get from writers who want a shortcut to success. It takes years of writing usually, to even get to a point where we are worth printing on paper. Kung inggit tayo sa ibang "swerte" at parang first time pa lang na-publish na, well, we can't do anything about their success. What we can do is improve OUR work and write the best stories we can.
