Jungkook felt his heart drop.
His mouth grew dry in an instant as he looked on at the girl standing before them, however the second before he was imminent from forcing her aside, Taehyung took a step forward from behind him, looking on at Jennie straight in the eye.
"Please," he said desperately, visibly swallowing as he did so. "Just let us go, Jennie."
Yet, the girl wore an expression of neutrality. Instead, with a small shake of her head, she took the four boys by complete surprise.
"I'm not coming here to stop you from leaving. I'm here to warn you," she muttered quietly, her eyes widened with concern. "They're coming for you," Jennie continued, turning to face Jungkook. "You need to run. Ride North for three hours and you'll come to a field. It'll be safe there, I promise."
In that moment, Jungkook felt his heart beat as quickly as he believed to be possible. His entire body shook with adrenaline as he absorbed her words, having no choice but to follow them, before reacting almost a split second later, grabbing Taehyung with one swift motion as he hoisted the boy up onto the horse, following suit a moment after.
"Go ahead Jungkook," Yoongi said quickly, drawing his sword from his sheath. "We'll take it from here. Go."
Taking one last desperate look at his brother, who looked on at the younger with an equal expression of sadness, the two bid their farewell. They weren't naive enough to think they'd possibly be able to meet each other in the near future, hence why Jungkook let out a shaky breath, unable to prevent the tears building up in his eyes.
"I love you," he said brokenly to his elder sibling, to which Yoongi immediately returned, the pair feeling their hearts crumbling as they bid their farewells. The vulnerability in Jungkook's words brought old memories back for latter, who remembered the times they shared when they were younger. He never realised he'd be having to practically force his brother away from him.
"Remember," he said quietly, looking up at Jungkook with a fierce glint in his eyes. "We won't be apart forever."
And with that, Jungkook dug his heels firmly into the sides of the horse, prompting the white-haired beast to break out into a gallop as both Taehyung and the Prince rode away from Jimin, Jennie and Yoongi.
As Taehyung wrapped his arms around the raven-haired, he swallowed back tears, unable to shove the invasive thought of utter guilt from creeping into his body. He, much to his regret and self-hatred, had caused Jungkook to lose his entire family, as well as the royal crown.
The second he'd danced with Jungkook was the second he'd selfishly put himself above everything, which is why despite the fact their freedom should've been the most elating event to occur in his life, Taehyung only felt a bitter sense of dread.
Jungkook, whilst focusing upon the way forward as he rode at a ridiculously fast pace, in order to outrun whoever was following them, had the image of his brother imprinted in his mind. No matter how often him and Yoongi fought, the elder had always been there for him.
He knew it wasn't a permanent goodbye, however he couldn't push away the bitter feeling seeping into his veins. Jungkook never regretted what he'd done, since it meant he could stay with Taehyung whom he couldn't help but completely love and adore, yet it didn't mean he never loathed his situation more than absolutely anything.
Hours later, when the sun was beginning to dip down below the horizon, causing a rather picturesque colour of the sky to appear, the two boys came to a halt, giving the horse time to rest along with themselves.
They paused in the middle of the field described by Jennie, which was littered with an assortment of beautiful spring flowers. Jungkook helped Taehyung off the horse, before he sat down upon the bed of grass, with his lover in between his thighs.
"I love you," he muttered quietly, pressing his lips against the back of Taehyung's neck. "I love you so much, baby. Never forget that."
Taehyung turned to face him, running his fingers along the Prince's bottom lip. "I love you more," he whispered, wrapping his legs around Jungkook's waist loosely. "Thank you for coming to save me, Kook."
"You already know I'd do absolutely anything to have you in my arms again," the younger stated. running his fingers through Taehyung's blue locks. "I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Taehyung. Only you."
Taehyung's cheeks flushed as he looked on at the boy in front of him with an intense expression of utter love. He'd always assumed he'd be alone for the rest of his life. He only had Bogum, and no one else. The last thing Taehyung thought to happen was to fall in love with a Prince, who happened to return his feelings. Bringing his head lower, the elder pressed his mouth firmly against Jungkook's, the pair smiling into the gentle kiss at how they are finally free; free of all limits bestowed upon them.
However, upon pulling away from the kiss, both Jungkook and Taehyung felt their hearts practically stop at the sound of something flying in the air, before a loud, pained cry filled the atmosphere around them. Looking blindly around himself with a thudding heart, Jungkook, in that very moment, felt his entire body cease from working.
In that very moment, the Prince found himself staring at the sight of Taehyung in his lap, with an arrow buried deep into the centre of his stomach, a red liquid gradually pooling around the spot where the metallic blade had pierced his skin.
