Joe forced Paisley to see the boys off. She stood there with her head down as tears fell. She saw boots Bucky lifted her chin. "Im sorry Paisley..for everything." He said
She wiped her tears. "Paisley say something anything." He said
She swallowed hard. "Goodbye. I hope that you have a great life with Addie and your daughter." She said then walked away.
Bucky stood there swallowed back the lump in his throat. He watched as she disappeared. Bucky and the boys walked in together. Behind them their girls held each other's hands at the gate of Fort Benning.
When they got back to Macon Joe moved Paisley upstairs next to their bedroom that use to be Steve's room. Natasha moved back home till Steve was done.
While they were gone Addie would bring Chloe over. The boys would write every day Bucky's letters to Paisley piled up unopened on her desk. Bucky kept hoping she would eventually write back but all he got were letters and pictures from Addie.
Steve would assure him that Paisley was okay. She was replying to his letters just not Bucky's. He went for a walk one night and sat at the park.
Steve found him and sat beside him. "I hope you know that I am not mad at you." Steve said
"I would be." He said
Steve let out a laugh. "She is just hurting Buck. She has never had a boyfriend she isnt like our girls. She may be she sassy and bubbly but she is tenderhearted. She has tried her best at asking boys to dances but they always turn her down. That Peter dude she use to dance with was just her partner he has a girlfriend. But everytime I watched you with Addie I would look at Paisley and watch her face fall. Natasha said she noticed it at the wedding of our parents. Nat said it all makes sense now she did everything she could to get you to notice." He said
"What are you talking about?" Bucky said
"Dad said it was her idea to punish us to come to her dance recital. Remember that?" Steve said
"Oh ..yeah." he said then he thought about that night.
"You did great honey." Joe said
"Your mama is smiling baby. You did great." Winnie said
"You were great." Steve said
"Yeah what he said." Bucky said
Paisley forced a smile.
Bucky shook his head. "I was standing right in front of her and didnt see that she faked a smile cause of what I said." He said
"Yeah.." Steve said
"I love Addie Jo..I hate that I hurt your sister but Ive wanted to marry Addie since I was 14." Bucky said
"I know." Steve said as they walked back to barracks.
