~ Part 64 ~ Colby

"He hasn't compelled me. I just love him." Vanessa said. My chest got tight just looking at her standing right in front of me and talking to her parents and friends. I could hear the beating of all of their hearts, mostly worried. Jade's emotion was strange. She was acting mad and ignorant but she was nervous about something inside. My mind flicked back to the words that'd come out of my girlfriend's mouth.

"You do?" I hated the childishness of my own voice. Literally despised it. Ness turned around though and she smiled, nodding. She came dangerously close to me considering her parents were right there and reached up to my face to touch it. Without me realising, I let out a little pur-like sound at her touch. Just then, her father's heart rate picked up and I heard him start to run towards us.

"Vanessa!" Cathy screamed out in a panic. Somehow before I could even react, Vanessa flipped around and shoved her father back letting out a roar. My girlfriend just roared... like a lion. It was honestly a little bit scary to me. What just happened? I watched as a fucking tail poked out of her back and her ears disappeared into her head, going to the top in a wolf-like fashion.

"Wha-" her father stuttered out. He couldn't stop staring at his daughter changing in front of his eyes. And honestly, I couldn't stop staring at her either. Something about the way she roared to protect me excited me, I guess you could say. Jade's heart rate had picked up massively.

"I knew it!" She shrieked sounding more excited than anyone ever. She ran up to Vanessa almost making me growl. I noticed the claw growing out of her nails.

"You knew what?" The desperation and fright in Ness' voice made me want to reach out and comfort her, to tell her it's okay. God, I've gone soft. "What's happening to me?" Jade petted Vanessa's ears before speaking. That was strange to see.

"There's a story." She went on to explain but I was caught up in my girlfriend, staring at her ears and tail in amazement and shock. I'd never seen a creature like her and she was already so beautifully unique. Now she's even more.

"You mean I'm a damn werewolf?!" Vanessa exclaimed way too loudly. I'd have to check what the neighbours had heard later on. Just so no one goes blabbering. Finally, someone else moved other than Jade. It was her mother, who walked up to her and took her hand.

"I told the story to Jade. And yes, you're a werewolf but not fully. You're what I like to call a Shifter." And that's another supernatural name I have to remember. "They're very rare and can only be released for the first time when they're protecting someone they love." Her mothers eyes flicked to me before she stepped closer.
