Vanessa sounded so terrified that I couldn't wait any longer. I sped straight back into the house and into the garage. I went straight to her, both of our hands interlocking. She still had those cute little wolf ears for a few moments. My eyes wouldn't pry away from her when she laid her head on my chest. It made it feel tight in a good way. "So... this is going to be quite difficult." Sam said as he sat down on his place. Elton copied him quickly, exchanging a glance with me.

"I don't see what the big deal is, honestly." Aaron sounded a little bit annoyed but not as protective as Sam and Elton had out on the drive. "Sure, she killed an old vampire. It's not like it's never happened before and he was clearly not experienced enough if he got himself killed in the first place." Kevin looked almost thoughtful.

"Yeah but when you really think about it, they've lost a member of their clan." He sent a meaningful glare at Aaron. I didn't seem to be able to think of many words. I just knew how and what I'd have to do to protect Vanessa. She means everything now and she can't be harmed let alone completely removed from this earth no matter what.

"Since when did the old vampires even like each other? They're each other's competition." Mike went against Kevin, the two sharing a small couple-fighting-like look.

"Apparently not anymore." I started to get their attention. We need to figure out what to do and we need to figure it out fast. "They're asking for a war at this point." I hated that word and I didn't want that for us. I couldn't lose any of them either.

"But we can't go to war, Colby." Sam replied quickly, reading my thoughts. He even stood up. "I have Kat, Corey has Devyn, Jake has Tara, Mike has Cathy, and you have Vanessa." Who I'm not willing to lose, ever. "There is no way they could be one hundred percent protected when we would have to be the ones fighting." Why did Sam have to have a brain that's so clear with everything we do? He would have made a better leader. Vanessa's head turned more towards Sam.

"I wouldn't need protecting." She flashed teeth and purple eyes at him, making me need to majorly adjust my pants. I couldn't stop staring at her.

"Well, you wouldn't be fighting either." Elton snorted. Somehow he was laughing in this situation, his eyes fixed on me. "He wouldn't let you get into harms way."

"He wouldn't have a choice." I raised an eyebrow at the disobedience of this girl. Does she really have to be stubborn about everything? It's so hot though. Ness looked back at me, smiled, then turned back around to the rest of the clan. "Plus, we won't go to war. We'll figure all of this out and fix it before it gets to that point." She sounded like a leader. She looked like a leader. And goddamn I listened to her like she was a leader. She should be by my side in all this. My right hand woman. Taking my own brain's advice, I took a quick breath.

"First off, we need to sort him out." I motioned to Edward, who was still completely unmoving on the floor. "And I think we should all reconsider if we want to help him without knowing the real story."

"Agreed." My blonde-haired idiot of a friend and partner in crime stepped forwards, nudging my arm. It felt like a proper moment for us. One we hadn't really shared in years...
