Warning: mentions of verbal abuse and death
"Oi pig. Quit slacking off unless you wanna be totally useless."
"Yes sir." I said meekly before rushing off to do my lengthy chore list for today. It was early morning, so early that the sun hadn't risen yet.
I rushed to the front of our small home, putting on my (c) zori scandals and prepared for the long trip through the forest to the nearest town in order to sell the pieces of firewood at the market. I took a deep breathe as I stepped out into the chilly weather, already seeing my breathe.
Honestly, I was very happy to go on the day long trip to town just so I can get away from my parents. But...
"Just make sure you get back before sunset and you better have sold all those pieces of firewood, you good for noting." My father said sharply from behind me. I turned shyly towards him, shrinking further when I see his condescending glare directed right at me.
"O-Of course sir..." I nodded slightly afterwards before going towards the carrier, which is fully of heavy chunks of wood. Shifting a bit before lifting up the heavy carrier, I start my trek through the forest.
I already know about the possible punishments I'll receive if I return back home either late or with chunks of wood still present in the carrier. I feel shivers go down my spine of the possible beatings.
Due to my increasing fear, I start walking faster in order to try preventing those possibilities from becoming reality.
After hours of walking through the lonely, and slightly creepy forest, I finally make it towards the nearest town around noon. Now time for the hardest part, selling all the wood.
The reason why selling firewood is so hard is because the demand for it isn't high yet, since the weather isn't so unbearably cold. Plus you can easily get some pieces of woods from the forest nearby. Despite this, my parents stick to producing and selling the same thing and I usually deal with their anger and frustration when things don't go the way they want.
So in the next few hours, I manage to sell 75% of the original amount of wood. I wish I could sell more, but I know that if I don't leave now I won't be able to make it back in time before sunset. So better to deal with the beating for one lose than two.
As I walk back through the forest towards my home, I mentally prepare myself for the long night. I can already imagine the aches I'll have tomorrow morning.
During my walk back, I come across two dead crows, in which have visible fatal wounds but other than that, are untouched. Sensing a bad omen from it, I walk towards my home in a quicker pace than before.
Due to some distractions to my paranoia from strange occurrence, such as noises or movements nearby me, I don't get back home til after the sun had set. I shivered as my home came into view, knowing my punishment will be harsh tonight for continually being useless and not being able to complete seemingly two simple tasks.
But I slowly come to a halt when I notice the front door was broken on the floor, al,ost as if someone kicked or punched it in a single hit.
Trying to push back my fears, I drop the carrier by the side of the house and quietly walk inside. But...
It wasn't too long till I come across my parents lifeless on the floor with fatal wounds similar to those I found on the crows.
Not only that, but the terrifyingly tall man who is nonchalantly standing in the middle of the bloody room. I flinched once he looks at me.
"Oh another one. But you look capable enough to handle my blood." He says calmly before walking towards me. My eyes widened and take a few steps back before my back collides against the wall in the hallway.
"P-Please don't kill me....!" I shamelessly cried out, flinching when the mysterious man stops right in front of me in inhuman speed.
Next thing I know, he cuts the palm of his hand and stabs his hand into my chest. My eyes widened and my vision becomes cloudy with tears.
He takes out his hand, and not before long I feel insane pain take over my whole body. I scream and drop onto my knees and hands, tears running down my faces and onto the floorboards.
"Never utter my name to others. And if you do I will know and you'll immediately regret your decision." The mysterious male threatened before walking away into the dark forest.
It's not long afterwards that I black out from the amount of pain.
