Chapter 23 - Leviathan

LONDON 2166

The waverider shakes and sparks as bombs hit it from the outside

Brooklyn closes her eyes tight and pulls her hood up

"We're gonna need to find a safe place to set down, Gideon." Rip says

"I don't believe there are any safe places, Captain." Gideon tells him

"Are we over London yet?" Stein asks

"What's left of it." Rip says

"Why's London shooting at us?" Jax asks

Jax looks over at Brooklyn next to him and puts his hand on hers. Brooklyn's eyes are still closed, but loosen up at the touch of Jax's hand

"It's Savage's forces that are doing the shooting." Rip says. "Here in 2166, they've subjugated most of the globe."

"Maybe picking up here wasn't the brightest idea." Sara says

"Unfortunately, we no longer have the luxury of blindly searching for Savage throughout history." Stein says.

"Indeed; we have to target Savage at the time and place that we're certain he will be, which is...." Rip trails off

"Right before he wastes your family." Mick says. They all look at him. "What?"

"Yes, Mr. Rory, Savage will kill my wife and son in three days' time, but we can save them and the world by stopping Savage now." Rip says.

More explosions rock the ship

"Captain, I've managed to slip beneath their artillery fire." Gideon says

"Set us down on the outskirts of the city, Gideon, near the encampment of the remaining resistance forces." Rip says. Ever lifts up on their harness after they have landed and stabilized. "We are going to need to proceed swiftly.

"I realize your family is in jeopardy, but perhaps some deliberation--" Stein tries

"We really don't have the time, Martin." Rip tells him. "According to Gideon, Savage is going to be out in the open tonight vulnerable. Now, in order to capture him, I require the services of..."

"A killer, klepto, and pyro?" Mick asks

"Bingo." Rip says.

The rest walk out, Brooklyn staying behind

"Why am I not on this mission?" Brooklyn asks

"You can be backup." Rip tells her

"Backup is not good enough." Brooklyn says. "I wanna be out in the field. I wanna be out in the fight."

"Not until you're completely healed." Rip says. 'You're still recovering from the Pilgrim's attack on your younger self--"

"I'm fine." Brooklyn says. "Gideon told me--"

"Gideon told me that you needed an extra day or two." Rip says. "And for us -- the people who are out in the field with you who rely on you to shoot straight and back us up -- making sure you're at your best is crucial."

"But--" Brooklyn tries

"I said no." Rip tells her

Rip walks past her

Brooklyn crosses her arms, huffing.

"All set on our end." Kendra's voice comes through the comms. "Jax and Brooklyn are in the Jumpship, ready to extract you guys."
