enjoy this chapter!!

----------------------------------

your head spun as you kept walking behind link. what the heck was happening?

as you both walked all the way back through the wavy roads of zora's domain's environment, you felt extremely anxious the whole time. you also couldn't help but feel extremely awkward too, this was definitely not good for your heart.

you kept looking at your boots as you walked, and back up at the back of link's head. he seemed unfazed, heck, he seemed like he had forgotten all about the moment when you both shared a moment of passion in one kiss.

why was he acting like this?

your mind was racing, you didn't know what you did wrong and that made you even more anxious than before.

after a long while, you finally reached inogo bridge and you couldn't wait to see your beloved companion, (h/c).

speaking of which...

how did you know him again? he was just some random horse that saved you from a guardian but how did you know his name?

you shook off the strange realisation and continued to follow behind your other companion, link. you decided to start some conversation to get rid of the awkwardness.

"h-hey, link?"

-

"mm?"

-

"did you s-see princess m-mipha in the divine b-beast?"

-

"...i did."

you whispered a small 'oh okay' and ended the conversation there. you were still a bit unsure on link's feelings since it looked like every female in hyrule had feelings for him, that included the zora princess and maybe even hyrule's princess herself.

link stopped walking and let out a small sigh. he kept looking forward but slowly spoke to you.

"(y/n)."

-

"y-yes?"

-

"...it's best if you don't remember about before...you know, when we..."

-

"..."

your heart stopped.

your core shattered into tiny amounts of shards as those words left link's mouth. you staggered a bit and swallowed the dry lump in your throat. it was almost like you felt a large arrow, a harpoon even, stick right through your chest and making your whole body lose all feeling.

"...right..."

——(link's p.o.v)——

as those words left link's lips, he felt immense amounts of pain resinate through his whole body.

his mind kept telling him that this was the only way. he didn't want (y/n) to be heart broken from him already (apparently) having someone important to him in that kind of sense. it would be even more painful for her if she witnessed it. it's better if she loses any feelings towards him now.

link's mind repeated reassuring words and he sighed once again. a sad and hurtful sigh escaped his lips.

"i-i'm sor-"

-

"don't apologise, link."

-

"what? but-"

-

"...it was silly of me to do something like that when we've got bigger and more significant problems in our, or more like, your hands. something like this shouldn't even be thought about...don't worry about it."

link didn't say anything, he was speechless.

so did that kiss even mean anything to (y/n) in the first place? was it just a 'in the moment' kind of thing? judging by her words, link figured it didn't mean anything to her. maybe that's why she was so quiet, maybe she was worried that he would complicate things if he attached feelings to it.

"if...you say so..."

link started to walk forward again, his brown boots making small noises that rang through his ears as he stepped on the dirt path.

the young hero couldn't help but feel a sense of misery and heartache from his actions just now.

——(your p.o.v)——

link jogged over to epona, handed her tons of apples, and apologised at least a hundred times for making her stay outside for all those days in zora's domain and not placing her in a nearby stable. you did the same to (h/n) and patted his nose gently, feeling your worries disappear as he nuzzled his face in your hair.

you sighed and embraced your steed and whispered to him.

"why did it end up like this (h/n)?"

you quickly jumped onto (h/c)'s back and steadily walked over to link.

"where to next?"

-

"i want to go to kakariko village first before we retrieve the master sword. there's something i need to speak to impa about."

-

"who?"

link chuckled a bit and smiled at you. it pained you to see him so cheerful when he just said some awful things to you. his smile was blinding, and you hated it.

"you'll see."
