The right question and the right answer

You still haven't said anything, you just stared up at him with big eyes and your mouth agape. He noticed what was in the furnace. He was not happy.
"Are you stupid? You know it took ten of us to melt iron, and it took us hours. Did you really think you'd do it by yourself? It would take you days, maybe a week to do it. And even then, you'd have to work non-stop, night and day."
As he talked, you were hoping he'd just keep going. So you wouldn't have to say anything.

"I know what you're doing." you gulped when he said that. "You could've just ask me."
You huffed a smiled.
"Oh please." you slowly stood up. "It's my thing, I have to do it."
"That's the most stupid and illogical thing I've ever heard!" he walked up to you.
"Yeah? Well that's how it is."
"Just look at yourself! You can't take any more work!"
"Didn't stopped us before."

"Because there was ten of us!" he grabbed your shoulder. "You don't even know how to *make* an instrument! Just let me do it!"
"No! Fuck off!" you shouted back in anger, slapping his hand away. "Sure is easy for you! You're the science guy! You're the genius!" you paused, finally about to say it. "You're way more important than me! Or anyone else!"

Senku didn't respond to that. You both looked at each-other. He knew what was going on, of course he did. But this wasn't something he expected.

"I haven't done anything ever since I got here!" you continued. "The only thing of relevance I ever had is gone! Now I have the opportunity to take it back but even that I suck at it!"
You kicked the furnace, you were too weak to break it. The kick made by your shaky legs made you lose your balance and you fell on your bottom. Your anger turned into despair. The tears were now overflowing from your eyes.

"I just..." you tried to wipe them away, to no use, but you let your hands on your face. "I'm just a fuckin waste of space...!"
A moment passed with your cries and sobs echoing throughout the whole Kingdom of Science.
"Senku..." you looked up at him. "Why did you revive me?"

The sheer sadness that could be heard through your voice and was written all over your face, to Senku, though his expression only changed slightly, it simply broke his heart. At first, he thought you'd figure it out on your own, with the occasional little push. But this was one of the few miscalculation he made in his life. And this one was for him unforgivable.

He turned his back on you.
"(Y/n)..." he said, looking up at the sky. "Do you know why Beethoven's moonlight sonata is so beautiful, even though he was deaf when he composed it?"
You just sniffed, getting tired of his questions and vague answers.
"What the fuck are you on about?" you slowly shook your head.

"It's all about the patterns hidden in the sounds. It sounds ridiculously simple at first, only three notes with one hand and you're good to go. But those structured notes reveal the fascinating relationship between music and science. The first half of measure 50 consists of D, F-sharp and A. That pattern's called a triad, and those aren't just random stuff, it perfectly represents the mathematical relationship between the pitch frequencies of the notes. I'll skip over the math, but these three notes form a consonance, which naturally sounds pleasant to the human ear."

You sniffed again. Now listening close to each of his words.

"And in the same piece, at measure 52 through 54, he uses dissonances using the notes B and C. And their frequencies are soooo out of sync, hearing them alone is pretty unpleasant." he paused. "By contrasting those two opposite things, Beethoven adds the indescribable element that is emotion to math. It has been yet impossible for any scientists to explain why certain patterns strikes the listeners' hearts..." he looked down. "A logical man such as myself could never master such a science. But you...You can do it like it's nothing. You're a musician, a mathematician of emotions, you feel the patterns and naturally know their effects." he turned around. "Einstein one day said: 'The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science.' But science can be explained, one can only scratch the surface with music. And music has been here ever since sounds could be made. The birds could sing long before humans, and humans could make music as soon as they could hit two sticks together. It is the most ancient, and the most complex of science."

For a moment, none of your talked.
"You ask me why I revived you." he said. "The answer is simple..."
He looked at you dead in the eyes. His expression was serious, but his eyes were so gentle.

"You're brilliant."

You felt a chill going through you entire being as the night's fresh wind blew upon both of you. You've stopped crying for a while now, but you felt your eyes getting watery again.
"Oh..." you looked down, smiling faintly and blinking rapidly to try and not cry again.
Senku knelt down in front of you and offered you his hand.
"Come on, get some sleep. I'll clean this up." he quietly said.

His smile was gentle, and his eyebrows were furrowed. Your heart, which has been beating like a drum, skipped a beat. You've never seen him like this.
Taking his hand, you felt closer to him than ever before.

He helped you get up and you slowly walked past him. He sighed when he watched you wobbling your way back to the shed. He was still smiling. Even when you were out of sight. As he put the iron sand away, he remembered another miscalculation he made in the past, except he was glad to have made this one.

Senku has parted ways with Taiju and Yuzuriha for a good few hours now. Walking alone through the dense nature, it was quiet and he was alone. But he spent six months in this situation before, so he knew he'd be okay.

Then, out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed one of the statues had a pretty specific pose. Like it was holding something to their mouth before they turned into stone, something like a trumpet.
He looked at it, it had to be a coincidence, lots of people play trumpet. But as he took a closer look, he stopped in his tracks, his jaw dropped. Shock written all over his face. He just couldn't believe what he saw.

Maybe a flow of water took the statue away, maybe the change of geography through out the 3,700 years changed its location, maybe the moss growing on the trees kept it from breaking. There was a million factors that could be at play here. Yet, here you were. Your bottom half planted in the ground, your eyes closed, motionless and in one piece.

Senku was at a loss for words. A full range of emotions were fumbling in his chest.
Six month alone, plus a year with Taiju have passed, he's been so damn focused. Seeing you, at this very moment, memories were flowing back like a giant wave. The day you met, the time you spent following each-other around, the tests he'd run on your abilities and instruments. The music you composed, the expression of pure joy you'd have whenever you played. Your smile, your laugh, the way you said his name.
Only now did he realized how much he missed you.
Before he even realized it, Senku dug you out and poured the last remaining of reviving fluid he had left on your head. Pleading in his head that it'd be enough to bring you back.

"Please come back."

[By the way, that music-science stuff is legit, you're welcome]
