The next day, you found yourself in a closed off room with a little girl in front of you. And she was terrified of you. You weren't sure what had happened to her, but whatever it was had left her traumatized. You supposed that the two of you had that in common.

After you and Mirio had discovered Nighteye's dead body in his office, the two of you had called the police. You ended up both being questioned, but there wasn't much information you could give them other than the fact that you believed Bubble Girl to be missing. They'd thanked you for your help anyways, and you'd offered to stay with Mirio for the night since he wasn't handling things too well.

And by that, you meant that he was a mess. He was sobbing uncontrollably in your arms, going on about how he had more to learn from Nighteye. You consoled him the best you could by rubbing circles into his back and whispering sweet nothings in his ear, but it didn't seem to be doing very good. Or maybe you were just terrible at comforting people.

You, on the other hand, were detached from reality. You felt a rush of self loathing for not being more emotional about Nighteye's death. Sure, you'd only talked to the man once, but his body was right there. Shouldn't you be more sad? Maybe hysterical that you'd walked into the room to see a corpse? Why didn't you feel like grieving the loss? Why didn't you feel anything at all?

All Might had even shown up to the crime scene, looking distraught. You supposed it was only natural- they had been partners after all. You watched as the people working at the crime scene cried over the fallen hero and his missing apprentice. You couldn't help but cry a little too. You'd only met him once, but you knew that Sir Nighteye had been a great hero.

You vaguely wondered what would happen to the district that Nighteye's agency watched over. You had no doubt in your mind that another hero agency would take over, but who? You wondered if they'd even care about the people like Nighteye had seemed to.

You couldn't help but feel that for some reason, this was all your fault. Maybe if you hadn't told him about your situation, he would still be alive. You vaguely remembered what he had told you before his death. "I have a few contacts within the hero commission. I'll see if they know anything that can help you out."

You couldn't help but think that his death had been planned out by someone. You knew he'd died from a bullet to the head- that much was apparent when you and Mirio had found him... but why? It didn't make sense for anyone to kill him, especially without a proper motive. Besides, targeting All Might's former sidekick was practically a death sentence.

Who in their right mind would assassinate someone with as much standing in society as Sir Nighteye?

"I can't believe he's actually gone," Mirio had said from where you had been hugging him. "I know he'd want me to keep smiling... but... but that was before he died!"

You felt bad for the hero in training. You wanted to be able to comfort him, but you didn't know how. You continued petting his hair, staying silent so that you didn't say anything that would be considered unhelpful. Eventually, you spoke to him, tone soft. "How about you come stay where I'm staying for the night? That way you don't have to be alone?"

Of course, you'd already checked with Aizawa to see if it was okay. After explaining the situation, he had told you that he was on his way. Mirio would get a while off of school after this, and you hoped that you would get some therapy. You really needed it.

"Okay," he'd said, and you let him continue crying.

That night, the two of you had vowed to figure out who had killed Sir Nighteye. The two of you were going to get to the bottom of it, even if it killed you. You hadn't liked the way the police were going on about the case. It was as if they were involved or something... or maybe that was just your anxiety speaking.
