"But nothing is better sometimes

Once we've both said our goodbyes"

My  eyes fluttered open to a pristine white guest room with sunlight flooding in from a tiny crack in the curtains. I smiled in delight at the golden rays reminding me that I'm free and safe. I then notice how Bucky's warm arms were still securely wrapped around me reminding me of last night's events.

I looked to my left and noticed Bucky looking at me with a genuine smile on his face.

"What's got you all smiley cățel?" he asked genuinely interested. He through in a Romanian word which my mind automatically translated it to 'pup', thanks to Hydra.

I look at him wondering if I should attempt to answer. But then I realized I couldn't put into words the warm feeling I was feeling. I was about to attempt to answer when a soft knock sounded at the door. The door opened and Sam stuck his head around the door.

"Morning kid, Buck. Don't forget your meeting with Bruce in an hour, old man."

Sam said smugly, quickly leaving and closing the door behind him before Buck could retaliate to being called an old man. This caused me to let out a barely audible giggle at the name-calling. I automatically stopped and hid my head in Buckys chest out of fear.

"Oh, so you think that was funny, huh?" Bucky teased, tickling my sides causing me to squirm in his grasp. He continued tickling until we both were out of breath. We just laid there in a comfortable silence staring up at the ceiling. Part of me didn't want to move. I wish I could just stay like this forever. And something told me Bucky was thinking the same.

"Come on Wolfie," Bucky said with a sigh as he got up out of the bed, but not before ruffling my hair.

"Let's get you some breakfast and then you've got a check-up with Banner" At the word check-up, I suddenly became anxious with flashbacks flooding my head of tests Hydra put me through. Bucky turned to look at me and instantly knew what was wrong.

"Hey Wolfie, it's gonna be okay. Banner isn't like the hydra doctors. You'll be fine." He tried to reassure but I just shook my head in terror.

"Okay how about I come in with you? Yeah, I'll sit with you throughout the whole check-up so your safe?" He said kneeling at the side of the bed. He was slightly unsure in his words but there was something genuine about the way he wouldn't leave me that made me trust him.

I clung onto Bucky's metal hand as he led the way to Bruce's lab. I don't what had got into me, causing me to become so clingy. However, it was nice to be able to lean on someone in life.

We turned the corner and then I saw it through the windows in the corridor. The lab. I stopped and stood still causing Bucky to turn back towards me. He looked at me with empathy in his eyes as he wrapped his metal arm around my back, whispering soothing words of encouragement into my ear as he led me into the room.

"Wolfie, this is my good friend Dr. Banner," Bucky introduced, leading me to take a seat on the hospital next to him.

"Please call me Bruce. How are you feeling?" He asked with a smile looking down at me. I didn't trust him 100% so I just shrugged and moved closer to Bucky, so my arm touched his metal one.

"Okay, so I'm guessing you haven't had all your vaccinations due to being born in the 50s. So I'm gonna give you a couple of jabs for measles, polio, tetanus, and hepatitis, so you don't get sick." I have no idea what he means by any of this so I just sit silently, while Bruce goes and gets what he needs.

A few minutes later Bruce is standing next to me with a needle in his hand slowly approaching me. I automatically freak out and my wolf begins to take control of my actions. I shoot up from my seat hitting the needle out of Bruce's hand. I start to transform into my wolf preparing to fight or even kill this doctor. But my wolf is stopped by Bucky grabbing and picking me up.

He sits back down with an iron-like grip holding me down in his lap. I start to go into sensory overload, unable to complete transformation either way. So I lay curled up in Bucky's lap with my body half covered in fur with and my ears on display, chocking a sob as tears stream down my face.

I continue to struggle against Buckys grasp, as I saw Bruce approach me with the needle again. "no, no, no,  N-NOOO! WINTER PLEASE I'LL BE GOOD! DONT LET THE SCIENTISTS HURT ME AGAIN!" I babbled mixing reality with the pain of a PTSD flashback.

"Mr.Wolfie's vitals are rising and heart rate increasing.  It appears he is suffering a severe panic attack." Said an unknown robotic type voice.

"It's okay, shhh. You're going to be fine lup (Romanian for wolf)". Bucky hushed me hugging me with tears in the corner of his eyes as Bruce injects me. Slowly my vision started to go hazy as I heard Bruce thank Bucky.

"The General anesthesia will wear off in a couple of hours Bucky. In the meantime, I will finish the vaccinations." and with that, I lost consciousness.
