"The food was good." I said, looking over at Percy.

"The pancakes could have been better." She shrugged.

I chuckled. "Of course you would say that." For that, I received an elbow to the side.

I was about to retaliate, but Percy grabbed my arm and pulled me through the streets of the town.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"I thought I saw something." She said.

I reached for a water bearer and Percy shook her head.

She looked over at me. "I don't think you'll need that. It's not a villain."

"Monster?"

"Maybe, but probably not." We entered the woods and Percy slowed down. "What do you see?"

I looked around the forest, not seeing any-

I scooped Percy up and carried her through the dark trees. I didn't want her to fall and twist her ankle, or break it. Her father would just love that.

Eventually the area lightened and Percy slipped out of my arms. She took the lead and led me into a clearing.

A large fire burned in the middle and people sat around it. They talked and laughed and did everything the Team used to do before Percy came along.

"Am I interrupting?" Percy walked in before I could stop her.

The talking stopped and everyone turned to look at her. Silver flashed.

I leapt in front of Percy, water forming a shield to block the arrows. I clenched my jaw as electricity coursed through my body. At this point I'm thankful that my tattoos allow for me to generate and withstand electricity.

"Okay, can you not shoot at me, Thals? Especially with him here? Cause if you do it again he'll probably try to fight you." The water I was using to shield us shot forward and wrapped around her cousin before bringing her over to us.

I took back control of the water and stored it in my waterpack.

Thalia was immediately past me and had Percy in the air. "What in Hades name were you thinking!?"

Percy's eyes widened and her face went pale. "Wh-What are you talking about?"

I almost winced at how bad the lie was. It would not take a child of Apollo to catch the horrible attempt at ignorance.

"You know what I'm talking about Percy!"

I placed my hand on Thalia's shoulder. "Perhaps it may be best to discuss this matter somewhere private?"

"You better get your hand off of me and tell my why you're here or else I'm going to kill you."

I lifted my hand from her shoulder. "My name is Kaldur and-"

"He's my appointed guard." Percy sighed. "Has been since we were twelve."

"And he's here why?"

"Because he's supposed to keep me safe."

"Yeah, and he's been doing such a good job." Thalia dropped Percy before turning. "My tent's this way."

Percy stood and dusted herself off, before following. As I walked after them, I was very much aware of the glares focused on me.

Thalia held open the flap to her tent and let Percy and I enter before coming in herself.

Thalia immediately collapsed to the ground. "What the Hades were you thinking?" She whispered.

"How do you know about that?" Percy asked.

"Your dad told me."

"Of course he did. If making me swear on Aunt Lana and Orin and Calvin wasn't enough."

"Percy...why? Why would you do that?" Thalia's voice was soft and I sat next to her. I hesitantly wrapped my arms around her.

"My life's a joke. I couldn't save anyone I cared about and then Mom and Paul were killed. I started living with some kids and it was nice cause Kaldur was there but they..." Percy trailed off.

"They believed Percy was controlling me. They distrusted her and in an attempt to quell that I pushed her over the edge."

Percy chuckled sadly. "We both know that's not why I tried to kill myself. I did it for you. So you could be happy."

I sighed and released Thalia. "And you know what I attempted."

"Something you shouldn't have."

"Look who's being a hypocrite." I said.

"Wait, did you both try to kill yourself?" Thalia's eyes widened.

"Yeah, though as you can see we both failed at that."

"This isn't anything to joke about Percy. Do you have any idea what the camps would do? There are so many-"

"I'm aware." Percy growled and I moved to sit next to her.

I rested my hand on her leg and she looked over at me. I offered her a small smile before looking at Thalia.

"You do not need to worry about her safety. My life is bound to hers and this time she can not discuss me from her service. I will make sure she is safe."

"You'd better or else I'll kill you."

"No, you don't get it Pinecone Face. If I die, he'll die too. It's part of his oath and assurance that he'll do his job. Not that he hasn't been doing this since we were younger."

Before Thalia could say anything, Percy climbed onto my lap. "I'm going to take a nap." She mumbled.

She wrapped her arms around my neck and rested her head on my shoulder.

"I should get her home. It was nice speaking to you." I stood up and walked towards the tent flap.

"Hey, Kaldur? Take care of her. And yourself. I don't think Percy could stand it it anything happened to you."

I smiled. "Do not worry, I will watch out for her. I have a promise to keep."
