"And what about that Ravenclaw boy?" Fiona could hear the smirk on her mother's lips, even if she couldn't see it

"And what about that Ravenclaw boy?" Fiona could hear the smirk on her mother's lips, even if she couldn't see it. She felt her face grow hot at the mention.

"Roger Davies?" She blushed deeply. Her mother let out an audible squeal.

Fiona took a sip of her tea. The kitchen was lit with a single candle in the early hours of the morning. The sun had yet to make its appearance for the day, but the Diggory women had been up for at least an hour.

Since starting school at Hogwarts, her early morning tea with her mum had become one of her favorite parts of the summer holiday. Unlike her brother and father, Fiona and her mother had always been early risers. They had taken to spending their mornings over a cup of tea while navigating the struggles of being a teenager.

"He's just a friend, if that, he only knows I exist because I'm the only blind witch in the castle" Fiona mumbled into her teacup. She held the cup up to her lips and sighed.

"That's nonsense, Fiona! You are so bright, there isn't a challenge you can't handle," Her mother soothed her doubtful thoughts. Rich, coming from you, Fiona thought to herself. Her mother would never admit it, but Fiona knew she worried about Fiona taking on even the simplest of tasks.

Her mother hadn't always been so worried about her daughter, but ever since she lost her sight she couldn't help but coddle her. Before losing her sight, Fiona remembered being challenged by both her mother and father.

"Well what about the Weasley boys, Molly asks about you all the time" Her mother's words brought Fiona out of her thoughts. She shook her head vigorously in disgust. She could hear her mum stifle a laugh.

A soft thud coming from the other room alerted Fiona that her brother had woken up and was on his way to join them in the kitchen. While her mother welcomed her brother and offered him a cup of tea Fiona found her thoughts wondering.

If she had never gone blind would her discussions with her mum still be limited to romantic interest? Or would her mother be spending their morning talks over tea discussing flying techniques or obscure hexes to be used in dueling? She had often overheard these conversations taking place between Cedric and her mother when they thought they were alone.

"Good morning family!" Amos Diggory greeted the three as he made his way into the kitchen. Fiona was brought back to the present moment at his words.

"Do you two have all your things ready?" Amos asked his children between bites of his breakfast. "We have a bit of a walk ahead of us this morning so we should get moving soon." Cedric and Fiona both let out a groan.

"Walk? Can't we just fly to the World Cup, I could ride with you or Cedric" Fiona offered.

"No, no! Too much risk of the muggles spotting us!" Amos replied.

"The muggles? That lot wouldn't notice a hippogriff perched on their roof! Fiona here has a better chance of seeing something than a muggle," Cedric snickered while nudging Fiona playfully. Fiona couldn't help but giggle at her brother's remark. Their mother found the statement less than amusing and scolded her son.
