“Can you tell me now?” I questioned.

           “No,” Nate laughed.

“How bout now?” I asked again. I was hoping to be so annoying that he would just tell me where we were going already. The suspense literally was killing me!

“Courtney, just wait and see, it’s a surprise,” he said, smiling, “but I’ll tell you what, it’s a long drive, so why don’t I make you a deal? I’ll tell you where we are going in half an hour, if you don’t ask me anymore where we are going.”

“Wait, half an hour? How long is this drive?” I asked.

“About an hour long, don’t worry, it’ll all be worth it,” he promised. Suddenly, the car came to a complete stop and he honked his horn super loud. “Okay you two, break it up. Mark, for the last time, I don’t like to see you kissing my sister!”

Then an idea popped into my head. “Wait! Mark and Grace, you’ve got to know where we are going!” I shouted.

“Sorry, Courtney, we can’t tell you that,” Grace smirked.

“Wow! What a friend you are. You know I---” I was interrupted by Nate’s laughter.

“Ahhhh, Courtney. You didn’t last very long, did you?” he laughed.

“Last what? Oh shit!” I’d forgotten about the deal we’d made about me not asking where we are going.

“Somehow, I knew you wouldn’t last long,” Nate smirked, “Hey Mark, I think it’s time.”

“Time for what?” I asked. Suddenly, my eyes were being covered by a cloth. “Really? You had a blindfold ready? I’m so hurt,” I said, while putting a hand to my heart, like I was offended.

Nate laughed. “Well, you asked for it!” His laughter was like music to my ears, and I couldn’t help but join in. But the suspense was really beginning to get to me. I wondered where he was taking me.

“Fine! I’m not talking to you ‘til you tell me where you’re taking me!” I announced.

“Thank God!” they all said at the same time. I stuck out my tongue at all of them and crossed my arms and sat there quietly for the rest of the way.

I felt the car stop and heard two doors open and close. Soon I felt a hot breath curl at the side of my neck.

“We’re here,” he whispered in my ear. It was then that I realized how close he was, and it sent shivers down my spine.

“Can I take this blindfold off yet?” I pleaded. I started reaching my hands up to untie it, but he took a hold of my hands.

“Nope!” he said. I heard him come to my side of the car and help me out. “Do you trust me?” he asked.

I was at a loss for words as his closeness caused that familiar shiver to run down my spine again. “Yes,” I said. After directing me some more, he told me to sit down on what felt like a bench. Suddenly the bench started shaking and it began to rise, and I no longer felt the ground beneath my feet.

           “Ahhhh!” I screamed, “Help!”

“Courtney, calm down!” Nate laughed as he took off my blindfold.
