Can we try that?

~ Prologue ~

The bright sun was burning a hole in the back of the young girl's neck. Hair covering her face, the five-year-old stared wistfully at the children laughing, enjoying themselves. She wanted to join their games. She wanted to run around and forget about time. She wanted to, but she couldn't. A million thoughts ran through her little mind. 

What if they don't like me? They have already got friends, why would they want me? Is there a specific thing you say? Like some kind of code?

So instead is going over to play, the little girl sat alone on the see-saw.

"Hi!", the shy girl jumped at the sound of the new voice. The owner of the voice walked into sight. It was another young girl, the same age as the first girl. Unlike the first girl, this girl had a bubbly personality.

"Do... you... need me to move?" The shy girl was confused about why the other was talking to her. 

"Nope! I want to play on the see-saw with you!" The ever-present smile of the strange girl was confusing to the quiet girl. The new girl made her way to the seat opposite the first. "I'm Alyssa!"

A small smile crept onto the small girl's face. "I'm Julia".
