there once was a girl

there once was a girl,
with a plastic girl smile,
to match her plastic girl heart.

she would gaze
into the lilac skies of tomorrow
and wish on the daisies of next week,
hoping one day
she might could feel her heart melt:

because her plastic girl heart
couldn't feel,
the way yours and mine could,
she could cry and cry and cry,
and not even know why.

because her heart was void of feeling,
but as if her plastic girl eyes,
felt the wanting and pain deep inside,
they would burn and heat,
leaking tears with no meaning or rhyme.

there once was a girl,
with a plastic girl smile,
and a plastic girl life to match,
who just wished,
one day she could look at your lilac eyes,
and feel the same love that you felt
for even anything at all.
