4. continuing the search

I woke up when I heard someone whisper "violet wake up."
I opened my eyes to see it was Carl grinning down at me like a idiot "morning ...you know you're adorable when you're sleeping." I rolled my eyes and smiled "whatever carl."
He grinned at me "i have a surprise for you."
I looked at him confused " what is it?" He reached into his bag and pulled out two candy bars.

I smiled and Said "you're an amazing individual carl grimes."
He blushed and handed me one
"It was no big deal Vi I swiped them out of shanes bag."
I busted out laughing and so did he. For those few minutes it felt like everything had went back to normal that me and Carl were just hanging out like we used to. This was the happiest I've felt in a while after we finished the candy we walked out of the tent to join the others me carl,Daryl,Glenn,Rick and unfortunately Shane were going out to look for Sophia.

The first place we went was the cave and we started to look for clue as to which way she might have gone. Daryl finally found some tracks that matched hers that's when Shane said "let's face it she's probably gone this is a waste of time." Rick glared at him "Shane!" Shane shrugged
"Everyone is thinking it come on Sophia is probably dead."
I couldn't listen to him anymore I stormed over to him and slapped him as hard as i could "you shut the hell up Shane. You're just gonna give up on her that easy we haven't even barely look you jerk." Carl put his hand in my shoulder I shook my head at Shane "you're disgusting you only care about yourself." Shane looked down at his feet and turned to walk towards the tracks "whatever." He muttered as he walked away .I just rolled my eyes he makes me sick.

It seemed like we had been walking on the woods for days. my feet were killing me . We had found a few signs of Sophia but it was almost dusk now and we need to get back to camp. We finally after another hour or so headed back to camp when we arrived Carol asked me if we had found anything and i told her I had found her doll and a few other tracks and stuff like that.
Carol held the doll like it was her lifeline I wrapped my arms around her and whispered "We're gonna find her Carol."
She sniffled and wiped her eyes nodding .I patted her shoulder and walked over to Glenn .

I walked up behind him and grabbed his hat putting it on my head backwards. He grinned saying "hey that's mine." I shrugged and stuck out my tongue. I took off the hat and put it back on his head and said " it looks better on you." He smiled
"Nah."

Andrea came up to me and asked "how are you doing Violet?"
"I've been better ..how bout you?"   "Okay i guess ....I just really miss amy.."
I wrapped my arms around her
"I do too Andrea." She smiled at me sadly "Vi I have something I want you to have."
"Oh really."
She nodded her head and dug around in her pocket pulling out something I realized it was the mermaid necklace she was gonna give amy .. I shook my head tearing up "Andrea I can't take this."
"Please Vi I want you to have it please take it and keep it safe." She looked at me with pleading eyes. I nodded my head "okay."
She smiled "I'm glad you'll take it. . can I put it on you?"

I blushed "Oh um yeah of course." Andrea have me a small smile as i turn so that my back was facing her and i pulled my hair over my shoulder. She slipped the necklace around my neck and latched the latch. I muttered "thanks Andrea."
As I ran my thumb over the mermaid pendant she smiled and pulled me in for a hug I hugged her back tightly as a tear slipped down my cheek.

In these past days I've realized something my birth family may be gone but my family is right here in this camp and I'd do anything for them.

As I sat by the fire I felt someone drop a blanket over my shoulders I looked up to see Carol she looked at me "you looked cold I didn't want you to catch a cold." I smiled at her "thank you Carol." I cant help but feel a little bad for her she's been through so much but she's not weak she's a survivor.
She smiled back "no problem." She whispered and then she walked over to the RV.

After I ate I realized how exhausted I was it has been a really long day I should probably get some rest. I stood up "I'm gonna hit the hay, g'night y'all." And then I walked back to my tent. I heard footsteps rushing up behind me I instantly had my knife in my had and whipped around then. Then I saw it was just carl
"woah Vi it's just me sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
I put my knife back into its sheath "Carl don't do that i could have accidentally hurt you."

"Sorry Vi I was just gonna come and ask if you wanted me to get my stuff out of your tent." He blushed and looked down at his feet.
"Oh... well you don't have to I don't mind sharing my tent actually it kinda nice to not have to be in there alone you know ..you can stay or not it's up to you Carl."
He grinned "well in that case I'll stay we can be like roommates... well tentmates."Then he laughed and so did I "okay."
He smiled "okay."
Me and Carl got into the tent and into our sleeping bags and talked until we feel asleep.
