"I want to move out."

His words hit you like a ton of bricks and your breath caught in your throat as you stared back at the taller male incredulously, struggling to muster up any words. The air around you suddenly felt heavier almost like the entire room was somehow collapsing in on itself.

You stared at Jin, searching his face for any sign that this was perhaps some cruel joke, some twisted attempt to get a rise out of you and somehow perhaps shift all the tension that'd built up lately into a more light-hearted space.

But no... there was nothing. His expression was void of the warmth you once found so familiar, replaced instead with a foreign distant, almost cold energy.

You struggled to process his words, even as they continued to echo loudly in your head.

Your eyes slowly started to water and you tried to swallow the bile that had quickly built up in your throat.

He stared back at you with a blank look painted across his features, and it was almost as if you were still genuinely waiting for him to break into laughter and tell you that he really was only joking.

But he never did.

He just continued to stare at you. Waiting for you to say something in response to his words.

Your mind continued to grapple with the weight of his words, struggling to comprehend them, to make sense of what on earth was even happening right as the silence between you stretched and the unspoken tension grew thicker with each passing second.

"What?" you finally managed to let out, your voice barely even above a mere whisper.

"I said," he started, before awkwardly glancing away from you for a few seconds since he found the sight of your teary face unbearable and clearing his throat as if he needed to muster up the courage to repeat himself, "I want to move out."

After he finally repeated himself, his voice came out quieter than the first time he spoke, and you tensed. The sound of your heartbeat pounded in your ears, drowning out everything else. You didn't want to believe him — couldn't believe him — but the unfamiliar empty look on his face left little to no room for doubt.

"You're joking..." you trailed off with a weak smile forcing its way into your face, "Right?" you whispered to him quietly.

"No, y/n." he huffed, avoiding your gaze which only frustrated you, "I'm not."
