How to have a popular book

1. A popular fandom/topic

Of course one you are comfortable with doing

2. Don't do author notes a lot

People (like me) like to check the chapters before reading the book and if they see a lot of author notes it will drag them away

It's not a bad thing to have author notes but if people see that author notes take up most of the chapter they will just skip it

A way to help that is isn't of doing a author note on taking too long to update, just do a special chapter instead

3. Add humour

The reason why people like my books is mostly because I add humor that give people a good laugh

4. Don't do the same thing over again

Add some different things

If you just do the same thing

Like same plot line for each one shot, etc then people will get bored of it easy

5. Don't assume gender

It's okay If the title says something like fem!reader if that's what your comfy with

But it limits the people they can read it

It's annoying when you don't say the gender in the title and automatically assume that all of your readers are a certain gender

It's sexist,offensive and very annoying

Don't assume gender, if you just want it to be a certain gender then put it in the title so you don't offend anyone

6. Don't copy someone else's

Trust me you can't get away with it

Unless if you put in credit

If you don't credit them your Just stealing work and your getting all the fame rather then someone else who actually spent hard on working on it

7. Don't just put one chapter

This doesn't include those one shots where it says in the title a certain character

If it's a story with one chapter or a one shot that's meant to have more then one chapter then it's gonna make people skip it

For example, I see one shot books with only one chapter called 'request'

If people see one chapter they are gonna skip it

8. Update frequently

It's okay if it isn't every day

But at least ones or twice a week

9. Don't be rude with other comments

I see people complaining with comments

If it's for feedback, corrections, etc

If you see a hate comment, delete or ignore it

If you answer rudely to any comment people will see it

Comments are public and it will drag people away because then will see the author as the bad guy

10. Make sure you have fun with what you do

If you have a topic that you don't have interest in, don't force yourself to do it. People will notice if you force yourself

11. Make sure your stories make sense

For example

Creepypasta

Me and my half sister read creepypasta fanfics for the fun of it

And 99.9% of the time they make no sense at all

So just check that your story makes sense

12. Don't assume sexuality

Some authors make a mistake where they assume the readers sexuality

Like I said before it's okay if it's in the title or as a warning at the beginning

But if you assume without warning your being VERY offensive

13. Sensitive content

Make sure to up a warning

Either in the description, title or at the beginning of the book/chapter

Or else you will be assumed as a jerk
