'If music be the food of love, play on'. - Twelfth Night.

I've been unintentionally writing Shakespearean Romances since I was fifteen,
Writing worlds away in a desperate bit to understand me.
I've built up characters just to write their fall,
I know we can't have it all.
I've tried to write myself into a narrative that simply doesn't need me,
Bruising my ego so easily.

I get so foggy sometimes,
Especially when someone new strolls into my life. (I don't know how.)
I get so cloudy sometimes,
Especially when I start to utilise my rhymes. (Like, right now.)

My friends only know half of who I am,
I tied the other half to the tracks; praying for death from the incoming tram.
Sensational fiction mirrors everything I experience,
Art is a reflection of life; it really is.
I'm a poet and I know it,
But, fuck, some days I know I'm about to blow it.

I'll be damned if my story is told as a tragedy,
People better not laugh at it like it's a comedy.
These chapters belong in a portfolio of romance,
One you should read, taking a chance.
I've been writing Shakespearean Romances since I was fifteen,
Writing words with hints of me.

Shakespeare called on the classics,
Thus, he created literary magic.
Meanwhile, I'm fucking frantic,
Perilously, pointlessly panicked.
Madder than King Lear during the courts,
More broken than Hamlet but that's not what hurts,
I've had love fizzle out faster than two star crossed lovers,
Sadness never seemed to be over.
So I'll keep writing my Shakespearean Romances until I can turn tragic into true,
And I can find my way back to you.
