Chapter 37:

"Will she be okay?"

"Your highness, please allow us to do our work."

"Why hasn't she woken up yet."

"The medicine given to her was too strong, please let us-"

Feeling first returns to my eyes. They're still too heavy to open.

"Just let me see her."

Then to my head. Pressure is on the side of my face as if I'm laying on my stomach. My consciousness begins to return as well as well as my memory.

How can I ever face him again? I stood against him, I didn't recognize him, he had to save me...

"I'm sorry I cannot allow that right now."

My back is all numb. How long as it been since that day? Has enough time passed for the scars to heal already? Have I waisted everyone's time?

I need to... I need to get up. Why can't I move?

"Please, leave."

Silence follows.

My eyelids are finally able to part, the first thing I see is the marble floor beneath me.

"She's awake." A voice whispers.

"Don't let him know, allow him to leave."

"What a nuisance."

"Hey, can you hear me?" I look up to see a woman in all white standing over me. She looks angry.

It takes me all my strength to nod. My voice has yet to find it's way back to me.

"You've caused us a lot of trouble, you hear? But the last thing we needed was to have matching backs."

"I don't think you should-" another voice begins.

The woman looks to her and glares.

"Don't act like you don't feel the same."

I push against the bed I lay on. Slowly, I begin to rise.

My hair falls past my shoulders, my skin seeming even more pale in comparison. My arms shake underneath the weight of my body.

"Shouldn't we stop her?" The other voice shrieks.

The woman, who I take to be in charge, stays quiet.

I move the rest of my body so that I'm sitting on the edge of the bed, I take a moment to gather my strength, and then I stand. There is no pain.

"Give her clothes." The woman orders. I look to my side and see a young petite woman, rush towards me with my uniform.

I look over to the woman, who only stares at me with anger.

"To waste my talents on the life of someone beneath me," the woman turns away.

"Thank you." My voice breaks between the words.

"Don't get injured again." Is all she says.

Once I finish changing, I make my way towards the door. I stop just as I'm about to touch the wood.
