Sorry this chapter came so late! I hit a wall with this story and was struggling to write it so I had to leave it for a short while. The next chapter may come at a similar pace, fair warning, but I'm planning on getting it out sooner so I can start something new. Not sure what exactly yet though."That part doesn't go there Cracker." Katakuri grumbled as he bent over his brother to look at the directions.
"What the actual fuck? None of this makes sense. It shouldn't be this hard to put together a crib." Cracker sighed in defeat and gave his brother the papers. "You figure out where it goes then."
He was sitting on the floor among the different pieces of the crib you'd gotten. It was about half put together when he gave up and let Katakuri take over. The older brother stepped around Cracker and picked up where he left off, this time putting the part in question in the right spot. It was fun watching two grown men struggle to put it together. Though they didn't find it nearly as entertaining as you did.
Peros came into the room carrying a box. "(Y/n), this should be the last of it. You guys are all moved in."
<Thanks for the help Peros, I really appreciate it.>
Cracker got up and stood behind you, wrapping his arms around your belly. You were six months in now and definitely showing.
"It's no problem. We can't make you do any heavy lifting after all." Peros gave you a wink after putting the box down.
Finding a place took a bit of time but it worked out great. You and Cracker had found a nice little house up for rent that fit your budget perfectly. His brothers were happy to help you move in as well. A while ago it looked like you had a whole moving crew with how many of his siblings came to help. Katakuri and Peros stayed after everyone else left to rearrange some things for you.
"We can't leave Cracker to put this together either. Not if you'd want to use it that is." Katakuri said, the crib now almost put together. It took your partner ages to get it half done and his brother had it just about finished in a fraction of the time. You knew who to talk to when you needed furniture built around the house from now on.
"Hey I tried! Those instructions are hard to read!" He tucked his chin into your shoulder and pouted, puffing hot air against your skin.
<Whatever you say.>
"Don't patronize me babe."
You smiled and Cracker giggled, unable to keep up the attitude.
"You guys are gross." Peros's face wrinkled up in disgust at your show of affection. "We're heading out as soon as Katakuri finishes up."
"We're going now then. It's done." Katakuri wiped his hands off on his jeans and admired his handy work.
<Thanks guys, you've been a huge help!>
"No problem. It keeps us busy." The scarf wearing brother gave you a nod. He was hard to read with so much of his face covered up but there was a warm glow in his eyes.
After saying their goodbyes they left quickly. Peros wasn't keen to stick around and watch Cracker smother you with affection in his giddy state. Moving in to the new place had him on cloud nine and it was a bit too much for his brother to handle.
"Need a break love?" Cracker asked, hugging you from behind and kissing along your neck playfully.
*Not yet but give me an hour or so, then I probably will.*
"Okay, how about we get things in order in here?"
You smiled and nodded.
While the crib may be in one piece now, the rest of the stuff you had was still in boxes littering the floor. Cracker busied himself going through them, bringing stuff to you so you could help decide how to decorate or where'd you'd prefer certain things to go. Linlin had actually bought the vast majority of the baby items, she was very keen on making sure it'd have the best of everything. She was even nice enough to let you pick out what you wanted. Imagine that.
It kept everything from being done strictly in shades of pink. You were very excited to be having a girl but Linlin seemed even more excited, wanting to do everything she possibly could in pink with frills and sparkles. Not to say you didn't like those things, but not on everything. You weren't going to let your daughter be some pink clad monstrosity like her.
At least it made the whole moving thing a lot easier to work with since you weren't struggling between being able to afford a new home and baby necessities. You didn't have to like the woman for her to be helpful.
Eventually you did start to feel tired and took a seat in the new rocking chair you'd gotten just for the baby's room. It was the one thing you really wanted that Linlin wasn't sure you needed so you went out and bought it yourself. It was already coming in handy. Cracker took the hint and sat at your feet, letting out a groan as he laid his head back so he could look up at you. It wasn't easy with your belly in the way but he made it work.
His eyes searched yours silently as you watched him think. He had something on his mind.
"(Y/n), I-" He was cut off by his phone buzzing in his pocket. He pulled it out and immediately made a look of disgust at the screen before offering you the device. "You'll never guess who."
You took it and glanced over the long message. There was no mistaking it. Alvida was trying to worm her way back into Cracker's life for some rediculous reason. She sent a long, drawn out message telling him how much he loved him and needed him in her life. It was down right pitiful. And from the look Cracker still wore, he completely agreed.
"So do you want to tell her off or should I?" He asked, not showing any interest in the woman.
*We can leave her hanging. She'll figure it out eventually.* You handed back the phone and he chuckled.
"Yeah, she's not worth the effort." He pocketed the phone, still laughing about her texting him after all these months.
You were proud of him. Ever since he got rid of her, he'd been straight laced and honest about anything you'd ever asked him. It proved that the situation with Alvida really was out of character for him. If it wasn't for Linlin's intervention it would have never even happened. But you'd be lying if you weren't worried about him doing something similar for a while there. He never did though. Cracker was too stuck on you and the baby on the way to want a repeat of that.
"(Y/n), I was thinking." He paused and scratched his chin as he struggled to find the words, finally standing up and facing you with his hands on the arms of the chair when he found what to say. "When she's born, I want to marry you. I've been very serious about us, especially with her on the way, but I want to make sure you know no matter what, I'm always there for you."
That was not what you thought was on his mind at all, it completely caught you by surprise. Now you were struggling with what to say. It made you happy that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. You just needed a second for it to sink in before you could reply.
"What do you say? Think we can put up with my mom?" His pastel pink eyes shone brightly at you as he smiled, creating tiny wrinkles around them. Every time he looked at you like that you were reminded of why you fell for him.
*Of course I can put up with her as long as you're here.*
"Is that a yes?" He became giddy with excitement, leaning into the chair with anticipation.
*It's a yes you dork.*
He immediately smothered you with kisses, giggling the whole time in sheer delight. How a man his age could always be so full of energy, you'd never know. But you loved it nevertheless.
