One year later...

After a successful three-round interview plus one week of on the job shadowing, I officially accepted the executive producer position at KTVU. I worked Monday through Thursday from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m., and Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.

I've been here for a little over a year now, and I love every minute of it. Sometimes it's stressful, sometimes equipment crashes, and sometimes the production staff can be grouchy, but I love my job, and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

Rosalina Anne, my smart little angel, is a little over 16 months old. She loves running around the house and getting into things that she isn't supposed to be into. She gives Gerald a run for his money while I'm at work.

Her favorite words are "mommy," "daddy," "no," "more," and "snack," and she still loves cuddling Gerald first thing in the morning when she wakes up.

Our second bundle of joy was born five months ago. Her name is Mikayla Grace, and so far, she loves eating, sleeping, smiling at daddy when he sings to her, and putting her feet in her mouth.

Rosie is adjusting well to having another sibling in the house, and we're learning how to be a family of four on a schedule that works for us.

I took 12 weeks off for maternity leave, even though I was recovered in about seven weeks. The only reason I took extra time off is that I wanted to make sure Gerald was going to be ready to handle two children on his own when I went back to work. Rosie was holding her own sippy cups now, so I wasn't breastfeeding her, but I was breastfeeding Mikayla. I made extra sure to pump enough milk for Gerald to feed her while I was working.

At this point in time, Gerald and I don't have any more plans to have any more children, since we have two under two. But, Mikayla was a total surprise, and Gerald always said that he would be ready for anything.

*** Kaitlyn's POV ***

Rowan was two years old, full of energy, getting into literally everything in the house, and all-around being a little terror.

Bath time was a nightmare, he fought Grady and I almost every night, and it's a near two-hour ordeal.

But, being a parent was something that I loved more than anything in the world. When he wasn't being a terror, he loved being a cuddle bug, watching movies, and helping me put groceries away after shopping trips.

Grady opened up his website to high school seniors needing portraits done, and he's been doing that for a year now. It always brought in a little extra cash, so I didn't mind him being gone all day sometimes.

"Rowan," I called from the bathroom. "Mommy will be out in a minute, alright? We can finish watching our movie."

"Okay!" He called as he sprawled out on the bed with the big bowl of popcorn.

I cracked the bathroom door as I slowly opened up the pregnancy test and put it on the counter.

For the past two months, I'd been feeling sick, especially at night. It was more heartburn than anything, but occasionally I would vomit. My breasts were tender and swollen, and I felt bloated. I thought it was just my endometriosis acting up because sometimes if I was under a lot of stress, my cycle would be delayed and I would feel under the weather.

"You're not pregnant," I told myself as I sat down on the toilet with my pants down to pee on the stick. "Remember what your doctor said, it's damn near impossible for you to get pregnant with all your problems. It's just your endometriosis acting up."

I peed on the stick and set it on the counter to wait. The next 10 minutes were going to feel like hours.

"Mommy will be out in just a minute!" I called when Rowan asked for me again. "She has to call aunt Rachel to confirm the playdate with Rosie!"

Technically, I wasn't lying to him, I just wasn't going to call Rachel at that moment. I knew she was at work and couldn't answer anyway.

Finally, 10 minutes had passed and I prayed that I wasn't pregnant as I cleaned myself up. Slowly, with a shaky hand, I flipped the test over.

My heart immediately fell down into my stomach, and I broke out into a sweat when I saw the bright pink + sign staring back at me. I blinked multiple times to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

"Shit," I breathed out as I leaned against the wall. "Shit, shit, shit. This can't be happening right now."

"Shit, mommy," I heard with a giggle from the other side of the door. "Shit!"

"Rowan Michael!" I said sternly as I opened the door. "We don't say those words!"

"Shit, mommy!" He repeated with a giggle as he held his teddy bear close to his chest. "Shit."

"ROWAN," I said louder, making him jump. "You're going to bed right now without finishing your movie if you say that one more time."

"NO!" He protested as he ran back to Grady and I's bed. "No bedtime!"

"Then you can't say that word," I said as I walked over to the bed to sit down next to him. "It's not a nice word."

He cuddled up next to me and rested his head on my shoulder as he clung his toy to his chest.

"Sowwy, mommy," He frowned as he kissed my cheek. "Wuv you."

"I love you, too, buddy," I smiled as I wrapped my arms around him. "I love you, too."

We got comfortable on the bed to finish watching The Lego Movie, but I couldn't focus on it because I needed to figure out how to tell Grady that we were having our own biological baby even though I was told it was impossible.
