Roots Before Branches

Lovely

There's a reading nook in the corner of this countryside cabin at sunset,
This place could be creepy if it wasn't so gorgeous.
Fresh batches of coffee fill the air,
Walking barefoot up and down the stairs.
Dancing until my feet swell up and my body announces it's had enough.
As I'm twirling, I glance in the mirror, and realise: happiness has never felt so good.

Just like the movies,
We are where we should be.
Isn't this lovely?

Who will say "I love you" next?
Picnics in lavender fields,
Finally finding something real.
That cherry blossom candle smells so sick,
Burn it once until it has no wick.
This night is effervescent poetry,
Isn't this lovely?

I could get lost in this beautiful silence,
Nobody could find me but I couldn't care less.
Spending my days rolling down hills,
This time last year I was swallowing pills.
How stunning can one life be?
I ask myself, expecting some cosmic answer with a dash of irony.

Just like perfection,
I can't feel any tension.
Isn't this lovely?

We moved dinner inside tonight,
Horizons vacant of skylines,
Nothing here but wasted time.
I dream dreams just to wish them to die.
I want to be lazy; I don't have the energy to chase my future tonight.
Skies turned grey but we love when it's raining.
I'm romanticising everything that is mesmerising.
I'm safe here; with the fire lighting and some root beer,

Sunlight slips through the blinds at dawn,
Bed sheets replaying dreams; on and on.
I'll read some poetry before I have some breakfast,
Today is a new day; a brand new chance;
A chance to be better and a chance to be kind;
A chance to write letters full of all things nice.
Maybe I'll send them to the people I once loved,
I'll let them know however long we had was enough.
I'll give closure to myself and a heart once destroyed,
As they are sent; I'll beam with joy.
