SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA
hanlim high school

It was now two pm and time to return home. Myeonji didn't really want to go home yet so after packing her things she texted her parents saying that she was with a tutor. Once the text delivered, Myeonji walked around still active classrooms. This was normal in Seoul. Kids staying after school and getting tutors when they really don't have to. It was staying in front of the competition that was important.

Since Myeonji had lived in another part of Korea technically her whole life, she wasn't used to the scene. She was even more shocked when she saw the number of students still inside the library. Since her classes had ended early at two, there was still an hour and a half to kill before going somewhere else. After giving it some thought, Myeonji entered the library and looked around for a seat.

She quickened her pace as she found an empty desk in the corner of the room right beside the window. Myeonji sat down and let out a deep breath. She unpacked her backpack to make it look like she was doing work and took out her airpods to listen to music. She went on her Spotify playlist and shuffled her newest favourite album.

Next, Myeonji went on her Instagram because was she really going to do work? Pft, no. She scrolled and liked posts for an hour before noticing something. In the middle of jamming out to her music, a familiar boy was looking around for a seat. Myeonji looked around and noticed that all the seats where taken. She looked at her desk, did she really need it?

Myeonji sighed as she started to pack her backpack again for the second time today. As she looked up, she met eyes with the boy who rose his eyebrows. Myeonji nodded at the boy and he walked over to her as she picked up her backpack. Myeonji didn't think much of it, you know giving her seat to another student, but as she crossed paths with the boy he gently shoved something in her hands.

She was very shocked at first and stopped walking then looked inside her palms. Strawberry milk.

"Wait," Myeonji yelled a bit too loud gaining 'shushes' from everyone around her. She bowed as an apology and met eyes with the boy once more. "What's this?"

His expression was deadpan. He shrugged. "I don't want it."

"Did you poison it?" Myeonji chuckled at her own joke. He didn't laugh.

"No, you idiot." He stepped one foot closer. "I don't want it and Chaewon said she took yours so..."

Myeonji's eyebrows furrowed. "How'd you know about that? I thought you guys weren't friends anymore."
