Hey all!

I held a contest like I said, but the winner didn't really request anything, so I decided that- since they seemed to be a Mighty No. 9 fan (a rare treat for me to see here considering the controversy surrounding MN9)- I'll make a "Which Pokemon would they have" segment with none other then Ray (fyi: Ray's name is supposed to be spelled in all capital letters, but most fans say 'to H*ll with it' and stick to normal naming). Hope you guys don't mind! 😅

Now, before we start, let me get something out of the way first. I may not consider any of the Galar Pokemon for this segement. For one thing, they're still really new to me and I haven't really had a chance to see them all yet. Another reason is that Game Freak just announced that Sword and Shield will get a paid DLC expansion pass with a bunch of new pokemon, including but not limited to: a martial arts evolve-able bear thing, at least two new Regi- Pokemon (you know, Regice, Registeel, etc?), new Galarian forms for the three Legendary Birds, and a weird Triforce elk thing that kinda looks like it came out of Adventure Time or something. Another reason is that I don't think many of the Galar Pokémon would be up Ray's alley much. However, Galar isn't out the window entirely, so don't be surprised to see a Galarian Pokémon of some kind here on the list after all. With that out of the way, let's move on.

Since this is the first "Which Pokémon would they have" segement, I'll explain it for those who may be new to the profile. In this segment of the Random book, I do research into the many diverse Pokémon out there to determine which of them would be a given characters' partner of choice! To make things easier, I divide this segment into different portions based on what kind of Pokémon I'm trying to determine would be right for a character. For example, I'll look into which Starter Pokémon they may have, then Legendary Pokémon, then Mythical, perhaps Ultra Beasts, then any other Pokémon. We good on the explanation? Then let's go on to the matter at hand: Finding Ray some Pokémon! And where else do we start then...

The Starter Pokémon

I'll go ahead and get out it out of the way; I don't think any of the Galar Starters would be Ray's first partner, tho Intelion makes me reconsider since it sort of screams "Ray" to me.

However, right off the bat I want to say that Blastoise would perhaps make an excellent partner for Ray's liking. It can shoot water strong enough to blow away boulders, has deadly accuracy, has a Mega Evolution that makes it more awesome, and according to the Sword and Shield expansion pass Blastoise and Venosaur will finally join Charizard in having their own Gigantamax forms, and Blastoise becomes a f**king fortress! What's not to love in Ray's perspective!?

Another classic Starter that may become Ray's partner is Blaziken. It is a powerful Starter, capable of jumping over a thirty-story building with ease. And much like Charizard, its wrists blaze with flames hotter then ever when fighting a worthy foe, something Ray would consider if you ask me. Blaziken also has a very impressive and powerful Mega Evolution as well, but it can be hard to obtain if the actual video games are any amount accurate. 😅

Speaking of the totally-not-a-dragon Starter, Charizard- if its Pokedex entries are true- would make a enticing partner to Ray. Problem is: Charizard is kinda over-rated nowadays. I mean, Game Freak gives so much love to Charizard, like giving him two Mega Evolutions (something only the Legendary Mewtwo shares), being almost everyone's favorite Starter, and Game Freak made him the Galar Champion's main Pokémon for Gigantamaxing despite technically not being a Galar Pokemon himself while Blastoise and Venosaur only just now got the Gigantamax forms in the expansion pass. Still, Charizard is an impressive Pokémon all things considered, so I suppose Ray would still consider the draconic beast.

Next Starter to consider is Feraligater. What's that? Never heard of him? Not surprised, he is the second generation water Starter that nobody picks or cares about. You might remember his pre-evolution Totodile tho since that was one of Ash's old Pokémon (what ever happened to that Totodile anyway?). Feraligater is notoriously dangerous, using its gaping maw as intimidation and capable of swimming at high speeds. It's second pre-evolution, Croconaw, has barbed teeth that are impossible and painful to escape from, and Totodile itself can bite the heck outta you due to its wild nature (tho it is just trying to be playful when it does this)! What is Ray known for? A gaping maw capable of shooting lasers and roaring shockwaves that disrupt communication systems, sharp teeth and claws more then capable of riping a robot to shreds, and just a general wild card in the game.
