Monique's POV
"Miss, wake up,"
I heard my maid, Rosella, say. She nudged my arm slowly. "The king and queen wants to see you."
I groaned as she said that. I never liked the king and queen, but too bad they're my parents. I immediately stood up from the bed and Rosella guided me to my shower room.
I took off my night gown and I dipped my toe in the tub. After checking the temperature, I slipped in and I listened to this other maid, Luciana, recite the things the maids need to do to me.
"You have to put powder fifty-three on her face for today, pink lipstick thirty-eight--" She went on with the list. I just rolled my eyes and closed it as Rosella put shampoo on my hair while I brushed my body.
After a long hour, I finally finished. Giselle handed me a bath robe and I stepped out of the tub. I silently groaned when I saw that I'm gonna wear a corset again.
I stood in the middle of my bed room as the maids dressed me up. Luciana tied the corset behind and I can barely breathe. I'm gonna die if I keep on with this stupid life.
For one hour, they dressed me until I finished onward. Rosella guided me to the throne room. I passed by several servants and they bowed at me. I just gave out nervous smiles.
Finally, we arrived at the throne room. Rosella left me alone and I started walking on the carpet to the said room. As I slowly walked, I saw mother and father sitting in their rightful thrones.
I stopped a few meters away from them and bowed. "Good morning, Your Majesties." I said. I looked up and saw Mother gazing up and down on me. She nodded and I properly stood up.
"Why did you want to see me?" I asked. Father suddenly looked annoyed. "Haven't you heard?" He spoke up, his voice booming in every corner of the throne room. I looked down and bit my lip.
"We have to go around town today. We must not let our reputation go low," He glared at me. "Haven't Luciana said your schedules?" I shook my head since Luciana haven't mentioned anything. "No, Father."
He called for a guard and he said, "Kill her." I bit my lip even harder. I raised my hand. "N-No, Father," The guard stopped. Father and Mother looked surprised. "I meant by Luciana did give me the schedule. I haven't read it."
He scowled. "Oh, of course. Nose always on books. Such a wall flower. Teach your daughter how to do ball room dance, would you, honey?" Mother nodded, completely agreeing with him.
"You should socialize more, Diamonique. It is not for a princess to read books and sip milk all afternoon! Goodness! Don't you want to go to tea parties and talk with neighboring kingdoms?"
I never liked neighboring kingdoms. Ever. I hate them.
"I apologize, Mother." I muttered loud enough for them to hear. Father sighed. "Prepare the carriage." He and Mother stood up. Father suddenly grabbed my arm harshly and glared at me once again.
"Smile to every towns people, am I clear? If I see your expression feeling uncomfortable, I will send you to the dungeons." I immediately nodded. He pushed my arm back to me and I almost tripped because of my gown.
