A/N - I feel like you guys have always quite enjoyed the chapters where I make the reader slightly unhinged. With that in mind, this chapter was inspired by 'Last Resort' by Papa Roach. I hope you all enjoy it.

Living on the road had seemed like a wonderful idea when you had first left King's Landing. After all, anywhere would have been better than remaining in the Capital. But after the first few days you started to see flaws in your plan. Sleeping out in the open with no one around to keep look out was terrifying, and you found yourself hardly dozing at night in the hopes of getting any rest at all. Finding a food when you had only a basic understanding of hunting and foraging was difficult, and you had never been a good cook. And most of all, it was lonely. Days and days living in complete isolation with only a few bird cheeps to keep you company was driving you half-mad. You spent so much time longing for a travel companion that you hardly thought of anything else.

Within a few weeks of being on your own, you'd realised that you had no idea where you were going. You'd heard rumours of Winterfell no longer being under Stark control, and you had no idea where Robb would have set up camp. You were just wandering with no destination in mind.

After a month of travelling you had practically given up on the idea of ever returning home. You'd lost all sense of direction, your drive to return to your family shrivelling up as you grew more and more tired. Paranoia was taking over and every single noise in the trees that surrounded you set you on edge.

You had been considering, for some time, the idea of heading into a town. You had a little bit of money left, and you could allow yourself at least one night of luxury. But there was every chance that someone would recognise you. Your father had become notorious when he had gone against the King, and there was no knowing whether the people in town would be pro-Joffrey or not.  But it was a risk you had become willing to take.

There was a moment of hesitation as you stared out of the tree line towards the tavern. It seemed a rather quiet place, somewhere where you would be able to keep your head down and go about your evening with little interest from anyone else. It was perfect. You straightened up, brushing your hands over the dirt coated skirts of your gown. Taking a final deep breath, you took the first step, walking towards the door of the tavern.

You paused when the door was thrown open, revealing to you a man that you had never expected to see again. Sandor had always been kind to you when you were in the Capital, and he had protected you to the best of his ability without going against the King. Your eyes widened when his eyes landed on you, his mouth opening and closing as he watched you stagger back a few steps.

"Y/N?" he uttered, moving to come towards you only for you to turn on your heel and hurry back towards the trees. "Y/N," he called out after you, the sound of his feet hitting the ground following you.

Fuck. He had been your friend, of course he had, but he was still a Lannister guard, and there was every chance that he would turn you in the moment he got the chance if it would earn him a reasonable amount of money.

You stumbled as you reached the trees, only just catching yourself on your hands before you could fully face plant into the ground. "Y/N, Stop," Sandor murmured behind you as you attempted to scramble to your feet. His hand found your arm, holding you in place as you pulled against him, wriggling in an attempt to escape. "For fuck sake, Girl. Stand still," he growled, and suddenly you were like a statue, completely unmoving. "You're bleeding," he added, voice softening as he dropped your arm.

Your eyes roamed the spot he had been holding, roaming down until they reached your hands. They were completely torn up, bloody and covered in dirt. "Shit," you murmured, bringing them down to rub against your skirts.

"Don't do that. We need to clean them properly," he uttered, taking your hands much more gently in his to stop your movements. "Is there water anywhere near here?"

You nodded, gesturing for him to follow you. You walked most of the way in silence, and for a moment you hated yourself for it. You had been completely alone for weeks, and now that you had a chance to talk to another human you couldn't think of a single thing to say.

"I've been looking for you," he started, breaking the silence, and you glanced back at him.

"Did Cersei send you?" Your voice cracked as you spoke. It was pitchy and sounded completely wrong to your ears.

Sandor snorted, shaking his head. "Of course she didn't. I came on my own."

"Why?"

"I was worried about you," he murmured. "You just disappeared one night with nowhere to go. Fuck knows what could've happened to you."

"Well, I'm fine," you uttered, pausing when you reached the edge of the river. "Are you going back now that you know I'm not dead?"

There was a moment of silence as you plunged your hands into the water, hissing at the stinging sensation that ripped through your palms. "No."

"Why not?"

Sandor shrugged, and you quirked an eyebrow at him, asking him to continued. "You aren't fine. You look half dead."

"Wow, what a charmer," you murmured under your breath, sitting back on your haunches as you cleaned your hands properly. Sandor came to crouch beside you, tearing a shred of cloth from his pocket and holding it out to you.

"You should bind them," he told you as you glanced up at him.

You nodded, taking the shred of fabric from him. "Thank you."

"You can't keep living like this," he continued, his hand hesitating as it moved to rest on your shoulders. And then he was touching you and you were sinking into the warmth of him, your head resting on his shoulder. "We're going to go to your Aunt Lysa until we can figure out what else to do." He felt you nod against him, his arm wrapping around you to keep you close to his side. "But for now, you need a good nights sleep before you drop dead on me."
